This thread has been on fire today. Love it. So many hardcore guys coming out of the woodwork.
Back then of course, if you'd told me I'd be spending £240 on a pair of jeans, I'd have laughed in your face (while complaining about how 'corporate' a £5 ticket price was for a show with three touring bands, haha).

Pathetic. Fuck them, or as we say in planet Reggae: Fiyah bun dem.
That's why i decided 30-odd years ago to go Reggae: Jamaican artists are the TRUE punks. They dont give a shit what people think. We pay a dear price for it, but, man, we be free...

Springsteen's Nebraska has been the soundtrack to all of my weekday mornings lately. Not exactly get up and go music but Atlantic City never ceases to blow me away:
-
^that is because it is one of the greatest albums ever written. IMO Springsteen is one of the greatest American song writers ever.

Can't disagree with any of that!

And to top it off, he seems like a decent, down to earth sort of dude, too.
I love New Jersey…

We were in New York the year after 9/11, and went to visit the World Trade Centre site. There were pictures of various politicians and celebrities who had come down to the site in the days following the attack, to meet and generally give moral support to what ,at the time, was a rescue effort.
The picture that stood out to me above all others (Clinton, Tom Hanks, Guliani etc.. ) was Springsteens, he was wearing overalls, a hard hat, and work gloves, and he was in there moving fucking rubble. That is a real, honest, genuine, great man.

I mentioned this once before, but the father of one of Julie's friends went to high school with Springsteen. They had a class reunion a couple of years ago and Springsteen went to it. No entourage, no press, just Bruce. He hung around with folks, took the standard high school reunion pictures, etc. No big deal, just an ordinary guy going back to Freehold for his reunion to see old friends…
I just love that.
