A Premium Wife to match his Premium Denim.  Although few of us can agree on how to wear our jeans, many of us have that much in common here.  After all, lesser wives wouldn't tolerate such expensive and obsessive habbits.

Ok I think I am ready to order a my first pair.  I have measured my jeans that I like the fit of best and they are very similar to these but I have a few questions.

I know it says no shrinkage but I want to get these hemmed so how much would you add to get them to end up as close to possible as desired length?  Or do I just order with the measurement I want as the final and they will adjust??

Can someone tell me the difference between these and raw?

Will I be sorry I didn't order the 25 oz version?

My tts is slightly smaller then what i plan to order will they shrink to fit? - I will not size down (yes I have read a lot here  😉

OK, to account for the combs in the back of the knees, you should add about .75 inches (2cm) to the length you want for hemming.  That should work out for you after you've worn them a while and the denim starts to break in and conform to your body.

Can someone tell me the difference between these and raw?
The 634S uses denim that is sanforized (pre-shrunk); raw denim is unsanforized, meaning the fibers will contract when they get wet (shrink to fit).
*I think this is the focus of your question, but technically speaking, "raw" and "unsanforized" are not synonymous.

Will I be sorry I didn't order the 25 oz version?
Only you can decide if you'll be sorry for buying these rather than the 25oz denim.  I will say, however, that the 21oz is Haraki's signature denim and the 634 is his signature cut.  Together, they form the foundation and soul of Iron Heart.  This model is the consistent best selling jean year after year for Iron Heart.  If you are only going to buy one pair of IH jeans, this is the quintessential choice.
*On a personal note, this is the Iron Heart item I ever bought.  I don't own the 634-XHS, and frankly, I have no intention of ever buying them.  Extreme heavyweight denim has no appeal for me.

My tts is slightly smaller then what i plan to order will they shrink to fit? - I will not size down (yes I have read a lot here  😉
As I said before, these will not shrink to fit.  The 21oz denim is a loose weave and can stretch a significant amount.  If your true size is slightly smaller than the size you are considering, the best fit may come from sizing down, despite your reservations.

How much smaller is your TTS waist than the size you're thinking of?

How much is there difference between your best fitting pair and the ones you're eyeing on?

I'd say these won't stretch (much if at all) if you don't put pressure on them…

If it's any help, my pair in size 34 has stretched to 36 inches. They were tight at first, but are perfect now. When I bought them, I didn't feel like I was sizing down - I have several pairs of jeans in size 36 that became too baggy for my liking after a few months of wear.

I my experience they do stretch even with no pressure….

So, is it recommended to size down in the 634S and allow for waist stretch?

My BB (21oz) are tagged 32, a true 31 waist, and have been quite roomy in the waist from the start. If I were to buy a pair of 634S in 30 and allow for stretch to my true size (prob around 30.5), the other dimensions would be pretty similar to the BB and not the straight fit intended. Better to just wear a belt, right?

So tough to get size and fit right. I would have gone 34 waist but I could not get my thighs into those jeans whereas 36 went on my legs snug, but fit. Now they fit nicely but the waist is too loose  for my liking. Picky picky picky.  😛

As a bigger dude, I was really tempted to buy a size that was more "comfortable" I talked to G after measuring my old FAVs and decided to go one size smaller than I originally planned. Thank goodness I did. They stretched beautifully, and I think it's why I like the fit so much. They have grown where they needed to and not where they didn't. I had been trying to hide behind oversized jeans that had the opposite effect. For me, that 634 cut, when sized right, is a beautiful thing.

excellent they're working out for you joe, I had to sell my first pair, due to lack of research on my side… I bought my actual size and after a couple of weeks it became apparent that I'd made a mistake

The upside is that my best mate who liked them alot when he saw them got them for less than half price, and I'm happy about that...and I put the money towards a new sized down pair (which have yet to get a proper wear)

I will just go ahead and agree with you on this one because when I saw your fit pick I though, "This guy is definitely not as big as he talks himself up to be."  Good fit on all the stuff you chose.

I looked u your pic and you look like a medium sized guy to me.

I am 6'2"  and just under 250lbs. I know people bigger but not a lot.

this is the pic i saw in your post history

I was going to go 40" but now I am nervous

most of my jeans are 38" but actual measurement is 40"

I'm 5'11" and 275 pounds, down from 326. But, thank you for such warm comments. I currently wear a 50 jacket and most of my jeans are 40s. I was tempted to buy a 42 because most of my jeans are stretched out to 42. After talking to G about my jean measurements, I realized that a 40 would be much better, and thank goodness I did because the fit (post a few days wear) was spot on. They were hard to button at first and I was scarred I was too fat, but the stretched in all the right places and the cut really works for me. If I had gotten a 42, it would be too baggy and the extra crotch sag would have excentuated my short chubbieness even more.

G really knows his sizing and if you take good measurements of your current favorite pair, he can really help you lock down the right IHs for you. Here is the actual email exchange:

I didn't know where to post this, so I DM'd you. I'm not sure if I should buy a 40 or 42 and I'm torn between the IH-634S or the 1955S. I don't wear much denim anymore and I'm really wanting to change that. My most worn out jeans are some faded black GAP straight legs. They are snug enought that I haven't warn them in a while, but last night got them buttoned and could walk around in them. They are 38x30s that fit tight and are stretched to a snug 41 waist. If I ever buy cheap denim again, I will get a 34 or 36 length because I want it to be cuffable. They have a 12.5 Front Rise and a 17.5 Rear Rise. They are 13.75 in the thigh and it hugs pretty damn tight. They have a 10 knee and a 10.5 cuff. I'm kind of leaning towards the 42 IH-634S I really like the 1955S, but I'm worried they'll be too baggy in the crotch because of the extra rise length, and they'll excentuate my shortleggedness. But, in the photos on the thread, they look like a really well fitting vintage cut. I'm just so scared to pull the trigger without trying them on.

He responede with the best advice ever:

_I think you have made a good call on the 55's, they are very flattering on long legged people, not so much on our shorter brethren….

The 42 in the 634S has similar rise measurements to your Gaps, but the thigh and knee (and hence the opening) are quite a lot larger.

Thigh:  16 (measured this way....  http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2835.0)

                                        Knee: 11

A word of caution, the 21oz selvage denim stretches a loyt, so the 42 will end up at 43 maybe even 44.  If you went with 40, they would be tight for a wile, but after a week or 2 would measure 41-42_

In shirts, the IH XXXLs aren't quite snapping yet, but they are my health inspiration. When I get ready to break down and have a double bacon cheese burger, I ask myself, would you rather have this delicious cheeseburger or your IH shirts. I always err on the side of the shirts  😉 I've dropped 20lbs since July 15th thanks to this technique. I hope this helps.
