Could anyone help me with sizing on 710xx's I'm a 30 waist and want them to fit as skinny as possible, an am wondering what size you guys would recommend? I do plan on hot soaking them initially so there should be 4-6% shrinkage? Will this the stretch back out?
Any help would be appreciated!

to be completely honest jord, look at the thigh measurements. compare your favorite pair or a pair you want to have the 710s fit like and go from there. The waist has give in it after the soak and then some, but the thighs will only go so far. consider what will work and what wont and go from there.

dont worry about the waist, it will stretch out__ focus on the thighs.
you need about an inch slack at the thighs pre soak.
hot soak from hem to above the knee 1st.
then, as water cool off slide em down for a full soak for about 30 mins__ if you're really worried about the waist, button up & jam a stick against the waistband [to prevent it from shrinking] before the soak & keep it til jeans fully dry.

Cheers for the advice guys really apreciate it! I called the guys at BIG, I decided to go for the 21oz S5000VX instead, I know it's a Completley different fit but I've been meaning to grab a pair of these for a while and thought it may be my best option, I went for the size 29 (waist 31.75) anD plan on giving them a hot soak to get 2" of shrinkage out of the waist and an inch back when I break them in! Hope it all turns out ok

Hi Guys! They just arrived and I couldn't be more happy! They're amazing! The thigh is 12" pre soak an is quite snug, how much should this shrink down? Would I be best not hot soaking or even soaking them on myself? Really need advice on what to do with these because I really don't want to ruin them!
Thanks for the advice so far, it's really appreciated!

In my experience (albiet with Flat Head and not Samurai), if you're worried about them shrinking too much during the soak, then wear them during it. Yes, it's uncomfortable to sit in the tub for an hour in hot jeans, but at least then you know you'll be able to get them back on.

^Truth. And if possible wear them until they're dry.
-
21 oz. denim - that could take a while!
But yes, if you've got the time, do it.

Man are those amazing YongIH

Very much agree with Zwer here, after having done the "bathtub ritual" in my new Flat Heads only a good week ago. Uncomfortable, yes to a degree, esp. in this last case, since those bad boys actually wounded me (knee bends and one spot on the side of my right thigh, as reported in the Flat Head thread). But I also always have found some pleasure in the act. Maybe I have a slight masochistic side, who knows. But it is an initiation sort of thing that immediately makes a serially produced product a very individual thing. Yes, a pair of jeans I've sat in the bathtub with and had them on soaking wet on my body until they eventually dried, that's a VERY personal garment.
So, alone in this context: do it!
