White's Boots
-
I now have them laced, and on my feet. I have chosen to use the leather laces, and dispense with the kilties for my initial wears, all I have done is walked a couple of laps around my house in them, so these literally are my very first impressions.
Weight - Really surprised, they feel about the same as my old SD's.
Quality - The attention to detail, and finish is nothing short of beautiful. Although they have a double leather sole, rather than triple leather, I think that I misunderstood the listing description maybe.
Leather - Another surprise, I expected bull hide to be thick, course, and rigid. It is not as thick as the CXL on my Oxfords, it does have a course texture, but it is extremely soft and pliable.
Comfort - My initial impressions are very favourable. I felt some slight rubbing on the top of my foot when I tried them without laces, but lacing them fully appears to have taken that away. The soft leather liner really makes a difference, I will choose this option on all future Whites.
Looks - This is strictly an opinion, based on my own taste, but they are nowhere near as OTT as I was expecting from the ebay pictures, they really are quite subtle to what I was expecting. They are definitely my taste, and look great with denim.
So far, so good…

Boots + Denim

Pretty ballsy combination and they look great. I'm sure they'll look even better a few years from now.

Love the way they look here

im really surprised that the weight didnt put you off initially. I expected these to be able to do double duty as boat anchors…

Looking forward to seeing you HH SD's Lucifer
Love the cap toe, not so keen on the block heel, but it's all personal preference.
On a downside, I just realised that I can't take my SJ's to New York. They would be a nightmare to take on and off for customs, and far too heavy for the case, especially as I'm picking up some more big boots from Urb whilst in NY

haha, yea, that would be a PITA to deal with for security.
on a personal note, my oxfords will be going back to White's to get sized down .5. They are just too loose as is, and I get serious pain if I lace them snug to get rid of the heel slippage.
