      IH-9634Z - 21oz Non-Fade Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Superblack

Our classic straight cut jean made from super-heavy 21oz non-selvedge superblack denim. This denim is specially created not to fade - if you like black denim, this is about as good as it gets.

      • Made in Japan
      • Classic straight cut
      • 21oz Japanese denim
      • Non-selvedge
      • Zipper fly
      • Poly/cotton constructional stitching
      • The warp and the weft are reactive dyed, so there will be virtually no fading
      • Sanforized and one-washed so no shrinkage to be expected
      • The waist will stretch out approximately one inch with wear
      • All other dimensions under pressure will stretch proportionately to the waist

      28-34, 36, 38 and 40

      USD340

Bumping this from the bottom of the last page because I just picked up a pair of these (in leiu of the 9634, which was out in my size) and I gotta say that having (briefly) owned a pair of the previous superblack cloth in the form of the skinny superblack, this denim is softening up terrifically.

Riding about 15 miles a day to and from a second job has really started to break them in, the best part being the lack of evolving a saddle fade.Though it's never been a big deal on my other jeans it's nice to own a pair that'll change minimally. I cannot wait to wash these babies after these two hellish weeks to experience their sweet caress.  I truly am amazed out how these felt out of the box and how they feel now.    😉

I think the zipper acent really nice also, cause I was definitely skeptical.  I think zippers could even be said to have their own 'tone'.  This thing sounds  like dragging a stick along a series of stubby rod irons.

I went TTS all the way with these, which is 31W.  I probably could've squeezed m'self into a 30W, gotten a slimmer fit, and been fine but the amount of strech has been more than manageable.

I've had the same problems with zippers, but this one I actually feel locking on each tooth, which is new.  I'm expecting it to operate like new for some time.  I'd say fit pics will be soon, but

I'm blanking on it, my apologies, but "TWS"???

They're pretty bad ass. Dchill, I'm still looking forward to picking up a pair of IH634S with the button fly though.  😉  I suppose I'm just promiscuous.

Before I the 9634Z I picked up a pair of 9301 and they were so heavy that buttoning  them up for the first few times actually made my knuckles cramp.  That denim supposedly doesn't get any softer either, unlike the 9634Z.

Although it definitely does not get "soft", it does "soften up" and is not an issue at all. I love that IH-9634 denim! It is some seriously tough stuff.

Hmmmm, I wonder what the difference in denim construction is, cause I gotta say having been keeping the zippered superblacks on a somwhat limited rotation, they feel great.  I almost bought the bootcut just to avoid the zipper, but since wearing them while cycling they've worked perfectly (smaller leg opening) and the zipper is seriouisly growing on me.  I think I just like the fact that my only pair of zippered jeans is IH.  🙂

"These are the same weight as the IH9634, but the denim is a lot softer to the touch."

Giles, do you know what differences in the denim/dye produce a softer hand on these jeans?

I'll tell ya something else. I agree with LandoCal – I love the material of the original SuperBlack.  I don't want it softer !!! cuz I so love the stiff, rugged original. If it ain't broke, don't fix it !

Seek and you will find…..Answer from Haraki:

They are same denim but different finish applied. Iron Heart used to have problem with old fabric because the stiffness which created unexpected creases on the jeans and sometimes the creases caused ripping. So they changed the finishing to current finish that make look almost same but softer. That was a good modification for Japanese customers.

Very interesting Giles. So the new SuperBlack material must be more durable. Seems counter-intuitive but Haraki don't lie.

Thanks a heap for the technical explanation Giles, I love it.  Half the reason IH appeals is that it's seemingly a requirement that one geek's out, as it were.  And Doug, thank you for taking denim's 'crispy' qaulity to a whole 'nother level.  Lol.
