Has anyone else been following the Olympics?  We're 12 hours ahead of GMT so I'm averaging 4 hours of sleep as I try and watch every event.

          My favourite new sport… Handball!

Olympics?? Happening in London?? But why wasn't it announced… Every five minutes... for the past three months... Oh wait.

However, despite my rant, I am watching some now and then. Seen some archery and a few of the football matches. Kept half an eye on the medal table, slightly pleased to find out that GB has a few more than yesterday :).

I saw one lonely cheerleader the other day in one of the Men's indoor games GBvBulgaria. Seemed to cheer for pretty much every point regardless of which team scored. I think she was either bored to tears or really lonely.

When is this all over? Is there a final date for the 2012 Olympics? I may throw a party…

August 12th is the last day of competition. Not sure if closing ceremonies are that date or the day after.

I'll be waiting. 3 cable channels taken up with this nonsense? Yeah, fencing was very exciting today. Wish Oprah was back at this point…

There's a couple of us celtic brothers heading out to NYC in October, and we better not hear any of these shenanigans, or I'll smack you with my shillelagh  😉

On a side note, Rebecca Adlington won bronze for GB, and comes from my home town. Tommy learns to swin at the pool named after her.

A couple of things that spring to mind

                        1. I'm not hugely into the Olympics, but when it was in Sydney 12 years ago (shit - was is that long ago already?!) the city was in party mode for about a month. Even if you tried to completely ignore the games, there was just a great vibe going on. I hope London is the same. It's something intangable that doesn't really come through on TV.

                        2. Volleyball bores me, except when played on a beach, by women. The German team is especially sporting.  😘

                        3. Sorry Lando, but I gotta support the Wiggins sideburns here. They rule, and balance out the fact he's a Ginger. 😛

                        4. The white-water canoing, or whatever it's called, looks awesome. If I wasn't such a pussy with a dodgy back I'd love to do that.

                        5. I'm OVER the swimming. It's all they cover here in Australia, because apparently we are supposed to be good at it.

                        Bring on the Greco-Roman wrestling….hello boys!  :o

Trying to lose is one thing but a pair balls dropping out of your skirt is quite something else!
