thanks for the answer…i´ve only worked with mopeds and scooters so far...but a "real bike" should be way more challenging and fun at the same time...only time can tell though and if i´m going to do such a project, i´ll def. update in here o/course!...

Wondered this same thing.  My dad had an old Norton (probably late 60's early 70's) sitting in the garage since I was a kid.  Probably wouldn't take much work, but I couldn't sell my wife on the idea.  Still not sure what to do about it as it is sitting at my sister's house.

Out with the new! In with the old!

Haha, probably need to take a look at it first, not sure exactly what condition it is in.  I was having trouble convincing my mom to sell it.

Go for it.  With the amount of information available on the 'net, and the fact that there's just not much to a motorcycle, it's been pretty easy in my experience.

There's plentiful of Kawa W650's in Germany. Pretty affordable and trustworthy machines.

That way you can concentrate on making it look like your own, no need to rebuild the motor first. Good starter bikes…

if possible get the kawa. with that you can haul longer trips. SR400 are for going to kiosk and back.

And no, they don't look like that. YOU build it…;-)

Also check TÜV regulations what you are allowed to do.

If it's really all there, and only needs to be put together, and you get it around that 2K€, should be fine.

Also should be aesy to make a caferacer out of that.

(I really don't know that much about japbikes though, so I cannot tell you what to look for, ie probable problem areas?)

btw is it actually just the wind shield that makes for a typical cafe racer or is there more to it?…

I am, and I mean really, no expert, but as far as my experience in looking at nice ones:

                                    minimalist style
                                    small seat
                                    minimalist rear end
                                    custom handlebars
                                    little or no plastic covers

Mechanically can't say a thing as I don't know it.
