      What's up everyone. I'm trying to post some goods in the buying and selling thread and whenever I click post nothing happens?! Any help.

            @Shoreman:

            ugh…so close to pulling a DD and snatching up, like, six of the shirts on sale. Damn this newfound willpower.

            I feel you on this Shoreman. There are some great items on sale but I'm trying hard to resist. Not only do I have a wedding to hemorrhage money for, but I need to remember that the IH gear I already own will look ten times better if I wear the hell out of it. Nietenhosen is my inspiration, check out his Roll Call for what a man can do with a 'well-curated' IH collection worn as it should be.

            (disclaimer: if I crack, none of the above counts!)

              I am definitely with you on that SM, and your post has set me thinking on what exactly constitutes a well curated collection. I guess we all have our own ideas on what the "essential" items are, personally I like to get versatility from my clothing. I think I am almost there, and then it will be a matter of "topping up" as items wear out, it has been a process of trial and error for certain items, things I loved that did not love (suit) me. I think I read Seul wrote once "we keep what we love, we let go what we don't", wise words.

                      This sounds familiar! I've been wearing the same bobbled wool pullovers from Uniqlo and shirts that cost a few dollars in Hong Kong for the past year at work and directing all my money to IH. Still I think there comes a point where you've gotta put the wear into what you have and not keep acquiring (or at least be somewhat restrained).

                        On a related note, I have total faith in Haraki-san and Giles to continually deliver the goods year after year. There are definite classics no doubt, but there is so much more to come that I rarely feel the need to rush in acquiring products lest the next season's offering is weak. The problem is always choosing…

                          Again, to echo what SM is saying. It is always a constant duel between want and need, if I bought all the IH I wanted then I would live in a cardboard box and be divorced, so I now try to buy to fill practical gaps in my wardrobe. I have found that (certainly over the last 12 months), I tend to let go most of my vanity/ want purchases, and keep the things that get genuine use. This is why my 33 gets worn for at least a portion of every day, it's my most functional shirt. For me IH marries function, style and durability perfectly, and that is what justifies the price to my budget.

                          I know that my next wardrobe "need" will be new jeans, as my Busters and my Samurai are half a step away from knackered, so that is my next planned purchase in October.

                          ** my disclaimer is that I also have a vanity IH purchase planned, but it is from a forum member and it should also be functional**

                              First wash today for Tommys new and improved IH-MINI. This was going to wait a few weeks, but mud, grass, chocolate and milk have made me reconsider.
