there's no such thing as irony when sidewalk commandoes comment on bikes over internet….

BTW use of car tires as reartires is(was) common thing to do. At least here and Sweden... That was when 150 was widest mc tire. and no 15" were available. My rearrim in my Pan was  made out of Käfer wheel...grinded the center off, pressed nipple"cups" in place drilled and laced to harley starhub.

I'd agree on both, though I'd prefer the bike 😉

This is the 450 version, though they also came in 250 and 350.

Basically made for the US market, soi I'm going to have to start looking there…..

Which model is that I don't know Ducatis.

There is 1971 450cc Ducati Desmo for sale here in Finland.

It's veteran registered, which means it's fully restored. Asking price 7300€.

                                    You can see it here.

It is the 450 scrambler, so you got it right.  Thanks for the link.  I think for a European bike that is a good price, but i reckon I can do better with a US bike, so I'm going to sniff around a little more and do a little more research before jumping…...

sure, it's just for comparison, and to show the price-range of almost pristine machine. I think there is a bit to negotiate, but not much.

Giles, you're pretty tall and might find something like a Sportster to be on the small side. I certainly did, and one of the reasons I ride a BMW is that it's the right sort of size for me.

The Ducati is a sweet looking bike. 😘

If you're looking for inspiration then I'd suggest checking out Bike EXIF. They feature a lot of Triumphs and Harleys, but there seem to be a few old Beemers featured.

And occasionally a custom Gold Wing…

My favourites are what Ritmo Sereno is doing with '70s BMW Boxers.

Apologies if I've ruined anyone's productivity for the day. 😉
