Haha. I think you might like the Brooklyn Local 1. The others are only a step above shit.
The pic was more for the quote on the wall.

That's a great photo and the quote is usually true (for me). But it needs to be extended: "…and replaced it with a hangover!"

This is one dangerous beer… Goes down like a light beer, but clocks in at 9.2°...  😃

OK Seul, you convinced me to try some Belgian Beer. I've read through your posts and made a list of what you had and of what I can buy online in Germany. Please feel free to recommend anything essential (or optional). I also went ahead and added the prices in order to give an overview of what Germans have to pay (which is reasonable IMO). Please note: We use commas instead of points for decimal numbers. Would be great if you could give a comment.

Tripel Karmeliet 0,33 Liter 1,79 EUR

          Chimay Grande Reserve  2009, 0,75 Liter 5,99 EUR | 2010, 0,75 Liter 5,29 EUR | 2011, 0,75 Liter 4,79 EUR | 2012, 0,75 Liter 4,29 EUR | Which one should I kop?

Kriek Boon (cherry) 0,75 Liter 4,99 EUR

Boon Duivels 0,33 Liter 1,79 EUR

You: St Feuillien Grand Cru, Blond | Me: I can only buy Tripel, worth it? 0,75 Liter 3,99 EUR

St. Bernardus Abt 12, 0,33 Liter 1,89 EUR |  St. Bernardus Tripel, 0,33 Liter 1,79 EUR

La Trappe Quadrupel, 0,33 Liter 1,89 EUR | La Trappe Tripel, 0,33 Liter 1,69 EUR
Would you recommend the La Trappe Blond?

          Trappistes Rochefort 8, 0,33 Liter 1,79 EUR

Also, where can I get hold of the obligatory beer glasses for Trappistenbier? Any reliable online sources?

          Thanks in advance!

Chimay Grande Reserve  2009, 0,75 Liter 5,99 EUR => I haven't tried this meself, but the oldest should be the best…

Kriek Boon (cherry) 0,75 Liter 4,99 EUR

Me: I can only buy St Feuillien Tripel, worth it? 0,75 Liter 3,99 EUR  => Not really

St. Bernardus Abt 12, 0,33 Liter 1,89 EUR |  St. Bernardus Tripel, 0,33 Liter 1,79 EUR

La Trappe Tripel, 0,33 Liter 1,69 EUR
Would you recommend the La Trappe Blond? => Just the Tripel…

Trappistes Rochefort 8, 0,33 Liter 1,79 EUR => If you can get the 10, it's supposedly better (trying it tomorrow)

Also, where can I get hold of the obligatory beer glasses for Trappistenbier? Any reliable online sources? => I would check eBay really… Best glass imo is the WESTMALLE TRIPEL glass...

AND PLEASE TRY AND GET THE WESTMALLE TRIPEL!.. # 1 BELGIAN BEER  🙂
            Thanks in advance!

Lately I've been moving away from my usual dark beers and trending toward the lighter end of the spectrum.  That's what you're supposed to do in the summer, right?  Anyway, here are a couple I've had recently-

This one is only ok; the ginger flavor is a bit too strong for my liking.  It tends to overpower the grapefruit, which is supposedly the headliner.  Oh well, it goes down pretty quickly when it's nice and cold.

This one was a mistake on my part- when I buy beers that aren't big sellers, I usually check the label to make sure the bottle hasn't been sitting on the shelf gathering dust for ages.  I was in a hurry and didn't do that this time.  Turns out I grabbed a beer that's been, shall we say, "bottle conditioning" since October 2010…  As a result, it was far more tart than I expected.  Still drinkable, and not entirely bad, once you get adjusted to the sourness, but still a bit of a disappointment.  Oh well.

Oh, and this reminds me- the bottle had both a cork and a cap.  Seriously?  Isn't that just a touch of overkill?
