OH COME ON im just saying first hand experience here i posted some pictures before here and did a mini review i could not find it. just read and see the pics yourself. dont wanna believe me its fine kids alli can say if all youve got money for is a pair o boot and you want to last a long time stay away from cxl leather period, and pls stop acting like some old grandparent telling his grandson to stop shouting. free world aint it?

cxl leather i smooth to start with so they tend to age earlier and make your boots die earlier. and fuck look at what happend to the top part of the engineer boots thats only my shin( skin) whos doing that and it ripped some of the leather off.
both are same age both same use. so you decide

Type of leather is a matter of personal taste in my opinion, CXL evolves quicker than dress or oiled leathers, but looks equally as nice. Just think of it like fast(er) fade denim
Also, unless you're very rich, or an actual woodland fire fighter/ logger, I don't see why you should be looking for the toughest work leather. We buy $450 - $800 boots so we can wear them with our expensive, well made jeans and shirts and jackets. It's more about the craft, the look, and the feel rather than whether we can dig a ditch and cut down a tree in them surely? And craft, look, and feel are very much matters of taste, opinion and subjective reasoning….i.e we're all different.

I totally understand the attraction and reason for great quality items and i do buy things with that in mind. On the other hand If u buy say a new car unless its a antique car or a muscle car most only want that car for no more than 5 years and then u want something new..Thats why leasing came about because YES people want long lasting things but they also get tired of them as well and want something new. My point is if a pair of boots lasts me 4 or 5 years I'm cool with that or if a pair lasts me 10 years thats great too but ill most likely have retired them anyway after a few. Whether something holds up for a long time eventually it will be a well made fully intact unwearable item like a 79 year old previous playboy playmate..She was great for awhile but then she got old…So how long do u really want something anyway

Yes u are def right. The key to having anything worth keeping for awhile is taking care of it by not abusing the heck out of it. So many of the things we love look great with age & with age comes beauty and damage. Taking a $500 pair of boots to a construction site will age the boots beautifully much faster but also send em to the cemetery prematurely..Its a double edged sword
