Samurai Jeans

For starters, the stitching thread in my IH's is definitely not pure cotton! More importantly, in my posts I made only positive remarks about IH except for my dislike of the poly thread. This elicited, with the exception of the first two replies, responses that were defensive and idiotic. This forum could potentially be a place for open and intelligent discussion, instead it is a closed-house of self-congratulary remarks and insular bigotry. A shame Giles! Especially when you post with such equanimity. So unfortunately my brief experience leaves me to conclude that this thread, at least, is dominated not by IQ but IH: Ignorant Halfwits!

Now you're talking El, these are the jeans that I have the most experience with. What would you like to know? These are my observations…
-
They shrink ALOT, it takes a couple of hot soaks and a wash to get all the shrinkage out. They shrink more in leg length than any other jeans I've ever had.
-
The denim does not retain it's indigo very well at all, high contrast fading is order of the day with these bad boys.
-
The crotch stitching seems to hold up better on these than any other Samurai's I've had.
-
The cut is just about perfect in my opinion, a real straight, slim cut.
-
The slubbiness really develops over time, and with washes.

And the SR is constructed using 100% cotton unile the 634S which uses stronger poly core…..............

Man, that sounds exciting…
So after shrinkage, do they stretch back to pre-soak measurements in the waist?
and how much inseam shrinkage did you experience?
Cheers Gav!

The shrinkage on these is odd, they lose more on the waist than normal, but do regain most of it with wear. The leg length is gone for good though, I would honestly advise cuffing with these rather than hemming.

the sammie thread tends to be very volatile . . . JVF if you get a moment & are so inclined, please post up an image of your sam's in this thread to get this train back on track. . . or go the route jaco suggested & post a flick of your annie's.
i have always been curious about sammies, what would be a good starter pair for someone that wanted the full on sammie experience? not heavy denim but just what sammie denim is known for. thanks for the time

MM go with the 710's. They're the most popular cut, and they are a great pair of jeans. They are 19oz, and the denim definitely gives you the full Samurai experience, it is course, stiff, and quite slubby. You probably won't like them when you first get them, you have to live in Samurai's for a couple of months before you really appreciate them, definitely not as instantly comfortable as Iron Heart, but worth the effort to "break in".
Like I was saying to El, my personal favourite is the S5000VX in 21oz, which also comes in 17oz I believe. If I were you I would take a trip to BiG, and try on the 710, the 5000, the 500 and the 510 cuts, see what sits best on you.

Hai Julius van Fecker…
I wonder how you got balls to say it's not cotton, when the makers tell you differently?
And calling me a ignorant halfwit is like signing up for a proper asswhipping...And let it be marked down that I don't care you mocking IH or otherwise critisizing the quality or whatever.
It's just the overall tone of your posts that makes me wanna puke.hope you're reading this...still...and let me know where to come and kick your ass for calling me names.

- JVF asked me to de-register him. I did. And sorry I did not confirm directly with you JVF, once you are deleted, I have no way of communicating with you
- For the avoidance of doubt, IH-634SR and IH-666S use mostly cotton constructional stitching. Polycotton is used in the hips and the yoke.

during the last pages one could have forgotten Samurai really produces jeans..and here is a pair
And we all do love pictures better than endless discussion…
S710XX
@madmonday: as megatron said you have the possibility to go to BiG, right? Really do it. We can say anything we want but in the end you have to make your own experience if and what pair you might like.
