I apologize if the answer to this question is readily available elsewhere, but I couldn't find it specifically discussed and this might be a good thread for it anyways.

I am trying to figure out sizing based on what can be expected after soaking and then breaking in. I think in order to get the fit I want, I need to size down. I'm concerned that I will end up with something a bit too tight in the waist though.

My question is, if I can expect to lose an inch from soaking and gain an inch by wear, does this mean I should expect the original measurement to be the final measurement? Or can I expect to gain back the inch from soaking and then another inch from wear on top of that, resulting in a final measurement that is about an inch more than the original?

doomtop, what pair are you curious about? Sanforized or Unsanforized?

Excuse my naïvety, but I think I mean Unsanforized. If it's Sanforized, then it won't really shrink much but will expand a bit with wear, correct?

I'm not sure what direction I'm going, but I was looking at the IH-666S specifically when I made the post.

No need to apologize. And yes, you are correct.

Based on my experience with the IH-666S, I would say that the waist on this denim is pretty "stretchable" if you will. What does the perfect fitting pair of denim you own measure (The IH Way) in the Waist? This will help determine what size you would take in the IH-666S.

My tag size 33 now measure 32.4.  So they have relaxed back to pre-shrink size….

the 18oz denim can stretch back to Raw measurements.  I have a pair of BB-RAW.

A good fitting pair measures 16" across, so 32".

I guess it just depends on how you want the rest of the jeans to fit. You could do either a W31 or W32 IMO. Sure G or someone more knowledgable on sizing will reply as well.

Any idea about how the rest of the measurements might be affected by shrink? The sizing in the rise/thighs/legs/etc. sound better for me on the size 30. But I don't think the waist would be comfortable. Maybe I should consider a different jean?

I would go with the W31 if you were considering the W30. That seems a bit, dangerous. I am not positive on the shrinking one the rest of the jeans since I sized up from a W32 to a W34 and did not keep track of measurements whatsoever. Sure that info can be found in the IH-666S thread, or you can't wait for someone to respond here. I would say W31 though. As for a different cut, I think this is a very good one and that you will really enjoy the quality of the denim. Of course, you could always wait for the next best thing… But why wait?! 😉

In measuring a pair that fits well, this is what I get:

                              Waist: 32"
                              Front Rise: 10"
                              Back Rise: 14"
                              Thigh: 11"
                              Knee: 8"
                              Hem: 7.5"
                              Inseam: 32"

Do you think I could be anywhere close to something like that with a size 31 post-shrink? I'd obviously need to get them hemmed to get the inseam down. (I have short legs.)

I still think a W31 would be best but like I said, I would wait for confirmation from G or someone else who is more schooled on the properties of this cut.

                                    Quick one guys,
I have been wearing a pair of Size 34 IH634S for 6 months now and although the waist is fine, (not tight, not loose) i'm getting some nasty hip flare and just feel the top block is a bit on the baggy side for my taste..
So, im looking at getting some IHxb01 and was considering going down to 33.
So my q is, 33 or 34 in the BB's?

                                    Thanks in advance!
                                    Mike.

Mild, I'm dealing with the same minus one size. I've had some 33's since February and enjoying a fit much the same as you've described. I considered another cut but also have thought much more about upsizing and stretch to fit another pair of 634s thereby shrinking up the leg (thigh, knee, hem) while snuggin up that top block. Of course, thats just me. Interested to hear sagely advice from the board.

Have you soaked the jeans, that'll cure the hip flare a bit. for a while…. + I think it's the positioning of backpockets that pronounce the hipflare. Or is it assflare. I hope I understood you guys correctly?

I for one couldn't go down if changed from 634S to Beatle Busters, of course if you skinny arsed and wish to speak falsetto...
