There's only .5 inch difference p2p from the M to L

yea i'm typically 21-22 p2p in shirts so an L or larger is just too big more me.

I would probably go for a large in your case because I generally prefer to have a bit of chest room in my shirts.  The fabric is quite thick in this wabash and the internal "volume" is smaller I think.  Don't forget you can always do an exchange with G.

I own an 08SBG in size S that I don't wish to be any bigger. Should I size down one in this ?

They feel about the same in size, so you could stay with S or if you want a bit tighter you could go XS.
