This is a paradox (not sure if this is the right word) that always border me: In North America, we need to look for a competent cobbler for British made shoes. The British made some of the best shoes in the world, but I will never bring them to any street corner cobblers in NA just to get them fixed / resole.

Currently requesting quotes from the cream of UK cobblers, and boot restorers to do something with my Whites SD's. I have sent an email to the 10 most highly recommended cobblers in the UK, with pics of my boots, and pics of what I want doing to them, interested to see what they come back with.
Failing that, I'll just ship them to Whites, have my arm ripped off by the postage costs and customs, but enjoy a great quality, relatively cheap resole
So waiting for the results…

Probably going to have to give it a couple of days, one of the guys over on SUFU (who is pretty knowledgable in shoe/ boot matters), thinks that White's stitch down construction method will most likely be alien to UK cobblers

Double leather midsole, with a Vibram composition half sole. I didn't think that price was too bad

Twigg shoes have come back with £55, although I have sent them further images to be sure they know exactly what I am asking for.
