It might look kinda off.  First, the button holes are likely sewn with reinforcement threads.  Second, you will have to sew the button holes together.  But no one will stop you from trying though.

if one can still use them and if it´s possible at all, i would love to cop the original buttons of the 43 you´ve once pimped…if you still have them o/course!

I try not to be that poster that comes in and asks something that has been explained already, but being here sporadically sometimes I miss things.  So, is there a list of shirts that can be pimped?  It says it is noted on the store pages, but if it is, I must be blind.  Just wondering if any of my favorites (31) can get the MOP, and how to plan future purchases.

you have to check the motherparts of the buttons, if or if not possible!…IHSH-31 = possible!

It is noted in the product pages (of current shirts) it is in red and says "Upgrade to real MOP snaps"  Go take a look at IHSH-47 for example….

Finally decided it was time to try my hand at the pimp game…
I never 100% loved the snaps on my IHSH-09, so I figured that would be a great first trick to turn out.

I borrowed a couple of tools from a seamstress friend that helped (me at least):

This tool was great for getting the snap backs off in a single squeeze:

And the really cool part is she let me borrow this vintage little tool that's used for putting on snaps, eyelits, studs and such:

Here it is (note the snap laying in a little groove, prongs up:

The female end of the snap fits snuggly to a little post on the end of this rod:

The contraption goes like this:

So you basically stick the new button on, slide it between the two pieces, give it a whack or two wth a hammer and viola!  (Probably dont totally need it, but I like that it applies an equal and uniform amount of force to the snap while being hammered and keeps everything in place):

And now I'm all blinged out:

Honestly, it was pretty easy and kind of a fun project (and it looks really cool) that really opens up a new world of possibilities…
