I'm still wondering whether a size S would work or not… Bear with me: my best fitting IH shirts are the 50 and the 43... Specs:

50 (M): s2s 17, p2p 21 (most important measurements for me)
43 (M): s2s 17.3", p2p 21.5"
55 (S): s2s 16.8", p2p 21.5"

Length on 43 size M and 55 size S is the same... Help!..

I'd say S.
From what I know, this shirt won't shrink. And if one of your best fitting shirt has the same measurements as a S, it's your best bet. XS looks too small and M looks a tad too big for your taste.
