Asking for a friend: does anyone have any experience with Frye boots?..

I have some experience with Frye boots. I had a pair that were really poorly constructed, and were falling apart after just a few wears. My wife had a pair with a shaft adjustment strap that snapped in half one day. It was two pieces of cheap leather sewn together. Not what I would expect from $400 boots. No thank you.  I'll take my money and invest in some Wesco's any day before I ever spend another dollar on Frye.

I have some old school made in USA frye boots, they are tough as nails despite the leather having some holes from dropping the bike when I was still learning.

Tried a pair of the more recent ones on and they just felt bad.

This year I chose as my "shittiest weather/ deep snow/ harsh conditions" walking boots a pair of deep tread, waterproof, cap toed Israeli special forces boots (they cost me £1 from ebay). In a few minutes I will attempt to walk 2.5 miles to work in them, walk around at work all day in them, then walk home. I expect to be crying by the time I get home, but this is the best way that I have found to break in new boots

No I dont wear boots in JA, or pants for that matter! I rediscovered cowboy boots about a year or so ago and it combines well with my IH mania…

i could imagine you walking along in those boots & the looks you would get from some of the locals. . .although i think some of the youths would actually pick-up the cowboy boot thing & run with it.

to get back on track dope boots & individual style, not my thing, but you can't knock it till you try it

1. Hiking boots for rough use/hiking. (Danner mountain light)

2. Black "nice" pair for work (Doc Martens Ormond)

3. Brown "nice" pair for work (Alden Indy chromexcel)

That is pretty much what i use 95-98% of the time.

Really want to get a pair of these, mostly for when I am too lazy to deal with laces, can't find them on the red wing website though, anybody know what's up with that?
