Filled out the preorder form yesterday; read the thread today and realized the order went in weeks ago.  Does my preorder still "count"?

Probably.  Read the text of the preorder form.  It does not guarantee that you will get what you want, but it does put you on the fast track,  I have plenty more of these coming in than "pre-orders", so I am sure you will be OK

Is this batch going to be built with a slightly higher rise similar to the XHS series?  I think I'd prefer and extra inch or so in the back myself.
