Always bothers me why Schott never gets much love on clothing forums. Most of us love Americana work wear right? And here is a brand who still manufactures most of its high end products in New York, just like they have done since 1913. They have supplied the military and police, have been responsible for arguably the most iconic leather jacket ever created, the same jacket which featured in arguably the most iconic piece of biker, Americana cinema ever, and their owner (Jason Schott) will happily answer any question that you fire at him. Still, when I have mentioned Schott in the past on other forums it has been greeted with a begrudging moan of "mall brand", and other derisory comments.

I know that Aero gets alot of love around here (and with very good reason, their work is amazing), but I think Schott leather jackets and Peacoats in particular are worth a liitle love too. My vintage (1976) 602, Police issue Perfecto is the best coat that I have ever owned, 35 years old and still amazing.

I like Schott and their HH jackets are good. (I have a Legendary FQHH jacket made by Schott)

Maybe it's because they're crap at sewing on buttons? 😉 😉
but seriously, interesting point Mega. I've had loads of Schott gear, a couple of leathers and a couple of N3B's (which are excellent for the money) and a few other bits and bobs. All good heavy duty stuff.
I know how much love & care goes into them but 'd love to compare a Buzz or Toys N3B and a Schott side by side just to see…

To be fair, I'm not sure what the quality of modern Schott leathers and peacoats/ military coats is like, but their old stuff is top class. I would bet that there is a fare gulf in quality (and price) between their Made In The USA jackets, and their Made In China jackets, but they're not on their own there.

It would be very interesting to compare some of their Military jackets to their Japanese counterparts (I would also like to compare an Alpha N3B to a Buzz version). The stock picture above is of the 602 Perfecto, same model as mine, but now made exclusively for the Japanese market at a price of over $700.

Yep, it cost me an arm and a leg, but I sent details to Jason Schott and he gave me some details on it. He said that it was issued to either the NYPD or the Baltimore PD, (but most likely NY), and could be dated due to the style of zipper.

It's an item of clothing that makes me look forward to colder weather  😉
