Curious how many of you all polish your silver?
Do you:
Fully polish?
Fully patina?
Lightly polish, keeping some dark antiquing as contrast?I was intending on asking this same question!
The dark bits are beginning to show on mine, wearing it every day since I got it.
I’ve never had silver jewelry before and didn’t realize this would happen. As you can (maybe?) see, it’s just happening on the lower part of the sides. I think I’ll let it continue to patina to see what it looks like down the road. There’s no negatives to letting it tarnish right? I’m honestly not sure but prepared to polish if need be.

I was going to say that I see tarnish and patina as different things (dirt is different again as the video nicely shows), so I’m happy with occasional gentle polishing. My view is likely shaped by having more experience of silver tableware than jewellery but use of a silver cloth or a gentle silver foam product will remove tarnish without destroying the patina which will come with time and use (old silver just looks different to new silver). I completely agree that silver dips or harsh products should be avoided like the plague.
If you want to let it tarnish, there should be no downside, but I’d consider at least washing your silver if it’s exposed to enemies like salt, acids, eggs, etc. as these can cause permanent changes.
This ended up longer than I planned - the short version is do what you want and it should work out fine!

New pendant I finally got after a long time of hem and hawing over it. Also pequeno Mano goosebump chain with my son’s initials. Soon I’ll be adding another ball chain or possibly the small curb chain with the initials of my daughter when she’s born next month
