I also like the point about toxic masculinity. That struck me in the Circe scene; viewed through that lens, she’s actually in the right—she’s simply protecting herself. In the end, though, it seemed to me that Nolan was focusing too much on Odysseus making peace with his fallen men and the whole Bronze Age collapse aspect.
Still, any film that occupies your thoughts to that extent has certainly achieved something significant.
