@JDelage I've heard that the LUC watches by Chopard are considered to be possibly better finished than the comparable Pateks, but at a lower price point. I'd prefer the Alpine Eagle in titanium to the similarly priced Aquanaut, though the latter will be worth a lot more on the secondary market.

@henry_david the bronze gold model does look good.

I agree that the dial is busy. Maybe they'll do another model with a simpler face and the same movement, such as a DeVille chronograph.

@mclaincausey thanks for the contact lenses tip. I've never tried them because my eyes are generally very sensitive to everything. Might be worth experimenting…

I can’t say enough good things about them. I’m using Acuvue Moist and they just feel like I can see for once 😂

        Think it, be it.

Thanks, will have to ask about them at my next (overdue because of Covid) appointment with my optician.

I really like the Alpine Eagle Cadence. I've been interested in Chopard's 8 hertz movements from the original LUC 8HF onwards, and I prefer titanium to steel for cases.

I'll have to check them out when Melbourne emerges from its never-ending lockdown.

This was my dad's Seiko Automatic. It was a gift from his parents for his college graduation in 1971. This watch is 50 years old, and works like a charm and always makes me think of him.

Got my Great Great Grandad's sterling silver pocket watch and chain out today with the wabby tux, needs a cleanup and a service really but still keeps reasonable-ish time and I'm a sucker for patina

Well, this one is off to a new owner Monday. It lived most of its life in the safe deposit box. While I will miss it, I found it a little too flash on my wrist, but at the end of the day, when someone offers you triple what you paid, it is hard to say no.

I find myself wearing my vintage SD and 1675 over everything else. Perhaps 2 or 3 watches are ample. lol

@QuantumMechanic  Triple??  That’s great for you!  Really don’t know how much longer this trend is going to go.

@goosehd The prices will hold. They will fluctuate, but Rolex is following the Hermes model of scarcity. Panerai should have done the same. It all went sideways for them after Bonati left, but I digress. Just a somewhat annoyed collector. 🙂

I have been collecting for a long time. A long time. I remember when you could walk into an AD and have a decent selection of Rolex sports watches, and if you were a good client, you could get some points taken off the price. If you built a proper relationship with the AD, you'd be offered the "rare" Daytona. Now, everything is a Daytona.

Collecting watches was fun, but it has lost its appeal.

                                Enjoy your watches!

Lots of "luxury sport watches" coming out these days, as everyone else already noticed. I find those very compelling and I happen to have a couple coming my way in the next couple months (hopefully).

The just announced Lang & Heyne Hektor is a cool variation, although maybe overpriced given the hand wound movement…

I love it, really. This is my third piece, had the first gen. in black, when blue came it was instant love, than I had a watches-off period and 2,5 yrs ago it came back and I bought these and never had on my mind sale of them. They are from technical and design point of view for me absolutely perfect

The Pelagos is a lovely looking watch. It looks the part of a tool watch without being clunky.
