@motojobobo I've been fascinated by those fish since seeing them on River Monsters tv show. wow what a catch
Yeah they are impressive. This one measured 2.2 mts, apparently they don’t routinely weigh them. I understand that paiche don’t put on a flashy show when hooked, jumping out of the water, just pull very strongly for a while.
-
@motojobobo dang!! Your buddy catch that thing noodling??
-
@Mizmazzle not sure what ‘noodling’ implies here.
-
When a man is alone in the wilderness
-
@motojobobo
“Noodling, also known as "hand-fishing" or "grabbling", is a primal fishing technique that involves catching catfish using bare hands or feet. It's primarily practiced in the southern United States.” -
Thought this closeup pic of the scales, of the paiche my buddy caught a week ago, very cool.
-
@Mizmazzle as a man of the culture, that is accurate.
-
Caught my first chinook while drift float fishing on the Capilano in North Vancouver last night
-
@Ikeaparty My Uncle (in law) went on one of those trips and had the time of his life. Having fun so far? It's a beautiful catch
-
@Ikeaparty hell yeah, dude!! What did you catch him on?
-
@goosehd so much fun! I struck out in Chilliwack on the weekend after 8 hours, last night went out after work for a couple hours and got this guy on last cast!
@Mizmazzle 20 gram float with around 5 feet of line and a 10mm light pink bead! Basically everyone is just floating beads down the rivers right now
-
@Ikeaparty ...any competition from the bears?
-
@goosehd thankfully no sightings! I suspect there is too many people on the river for that lower down, up higher they are probably scooping them up though!
-
@Ikeaparty so an egg imitation?
Nice work man. Looks like a great time. Was it a one day float trip or multiple?Edit: see it was a quick after work mission. So sick you have that kind of access to water like that close to home.
-
@Mizmazzle yeah, new to fishing so not super familiar with the terms haha but it was 20g float with about 2 feet of space down to the weight, 14g weight and then 3 feet of leader with a 10mm bead (the exact color below) and a size 0 barbless hook. I dont have a baitcasting setup yet so was just using a spinner setup and trying to give enough slack to float down the river
Friend also got a nice Coho on the same setup (aside from having baitcaster setup) except 8mm bead same color
-
@Ikeaparty badass!
-
@Mizmazzle really cool the spot we were at was like, 25 minutes from downtown Vancouver? Just drive across the bridge, park on the side of the road and walk down to the water, we had our waders but didnt even need them at this spot just stood on the rocks on the shore
-
@Ikeaparty time to get a fly rod!!
