Wax Treasure (Vinyl)

[Aetas]

@GraemeE After all this years ;-).
One of my local dealers just filled some boxes for an upcoming convention in the Netherlands.
Usual I avoid the three-digit vinyl field.
But these dots waved from a distance!
As I know the owner for twenty years, helped him to load the van and got a fair price for it afterwards.

Hard to choose a favorite.

Casanova 70 sounds adorable on vinyl.

Hearing this Etienne de Crécy mix for the first time on vinyl …

I’ve seen that AIR record a few times this year and it always reminds me of the little dig sesh @GraemeE and I had last year.

Hope to run that back / do the same with folks on here in the near future.

Thats right I WAS with you when I found that one

Next time either of us end up in the others city we should definately do that again

Supporting cast on this one is pretty crazy

[J-IV]

^^ this is on my radar now. Aside from having two legendary frontmen, how can you not want a record with a harmonica player named “Magic Dick.”

Joining the blues tip

[Aetas]

@J-IV Love rabbit holes and Arhoolie Records is a big (and very deep) one. Thanks J-IV!

[68degreesorless]

Arhoolie and Delmark are probably my two favorite blues labels. Chess is great too of course. And yahoo for the old stuff.

City-pop Saturdaze

Bonus: the back photo captures the vibe of the record quite well

[GraemeE]

@J-IV this is a rabbit hole that ive wanted to explore for several years ever since I heard those LITA comps

[J-IV]

@GraemeE I’ve been diggin’ for a minute my dude. There’s great dj sets on YouTube now that make it easier. Ultimate summer vibe

This made me smile. Actually, it made me laugh out loud. But in a good way. A perfect blend of chill and goofy.
Who can resist theremins galore? Thanks for posting it.

@endo nice one! Sitting in the garden, a warm late afternoon, a cold beer, a good book, smoking a pipe, perfect match

This whole thread is sooo inspiring guys!

Friday feelinggg

Revisited today, because this is beautiful.

RIP to Newk aka Sonny aka Walter Theodore Rollins. It’s wild how someone you’ve never met can have such a profound impact on how you go about life. A Great Day in Harlem, as with all good things, finally comes to an end.

Been playing The Bridge all day. Would have continued well into the night but I haven’t had much luck finding a proper copy on vinyl.

[NickD]

The Bridge is a great album. RIP Sonny Rollins. Pretty sure that's the last of the 50s/60s greats gone now.

I think you are right
I remember hearing an interview with him a couple years ago and being genuinely suprised he was still around even then
