IHB-10-NAT - Heavy Duty "Tochigi" Leather Belt - Natural

This might've come up before, but has anyone found a good method for loosening overly-tightened screws in these belts? I'd like to downsize mine by half an inch — the center hole is a little too loose on me as is, but going to the 4th hole cinches my jeans up more than I'd like. Crazy how significant the difference between two notches can be, but alas here I am.
When I trimmed this belt down for the first time, I guess I just got a bit overzealous tightening the screws. I managed to get one out by putting duct tape over the smooth side to keep it from spinning, but the second screw is just too tight for that to work. Success stories greatly appreciated!

@popvulture needle nose pliers as gently as you can. I’ve wrapped the pliers tips with electrical tape before (as many wraps as needed) to prevent the pliers from biting into the brass.
It’s a delicate balance, but has worked for me in the past.

Cool, thanks y'all. I think with the pliars, I'd just need more hands. Will try to see if I can hold the belt and screw/pliars still while my girlfriend tries to actually unscrew it. Any other MacGyvers please chime in if you've got some hot tips!
