                        Had a lovely day in the magnificent North German countryside. I went for a somewhat longer solo hike - starting from old Schleswig, passing Hedeby (an important trading hub during the Viking Age), and heading through the Hüttener Berge Nature Park back to the cottage.

                          I was also quite impressed with my new light hiking/trail running shoes. Despite the fairly long distance, I had absolutely no issues—no pressure points or blisters, And it was only the second day I’d worn them. I wore merino toe socks; they were perfect.
