I’ve been in this combo lately. I have a pair of the super black 21oz bootcuts I found on eBay Japan coming this week. That’s my favorite IH Jean. I outgrew my last pair.
526PJ and 814 is my default config of late. I absolutely love the 526 jacket. Best thing I’ve ever bought.
Hate to bogart but after I soaked the collar and sleeves wet with a water bottle and wore it until dry I’m convinced this is the best type 3 jacket I’ve ever owned. Absolutely hits all the points I wanted. Shorter, no hand warmers and built to move. Absolutely nailed this pattern to the ground.
I’ve got their take on the type 3. Pretty decent. Fits nice.
Every time I open a new piece I think “This is the best one yet”. This time I really mean it. I love this shacket! This denim feels beefier than the stuff used on the storm rider I ordered a few years back. Great stuff.
Just received mine from Dant and it’s quite literally the perfect heavy type 3. I’m struck by how similar the cut is to my 70’s vintage penny’s ranch wear. Full sleeves, broad shoulders and a nicely nipped waist. Can’t wait to get the weather for it!
I just picked one of these up and love it. I think I’ll probably use it more as a light jacket. I’m surprised I didn’t try the style sooner.
I just purchased this jacket again from James Dant. The one I posted a few years back, I gave to my nephew to help him break free from the North face virus. I think perhaps the pattern has changed? Shoulders have more slope (like an a-2) and the sleeves seem fuller. Still my favorite IH piece. For comparisons sake here is the 526pj from maybe 5 or 6 years ago:

I look forward to the fall to break it in properly. Rather than soak it, I think I’ll just use a spray bottle to help shape and mold certain areas, collar and sleeve etc.
@JunkPants I’d love one with snaps instead of buttons, so I can avoid chewing up the button holes. Perhaps the denim is too thick for it though? Quite a few of my vintage denims have snaps. This is one of my favs. Lee Gemini. It’s reversible! As seen on me and a significantly cooler (RIP) legend in Robert Redford. 
@mjunderw00d LOL. It’s real though. First leaf falls and everybody here turns into Han Solo with a navy blue north face “alpha dad” vest. I can’t let that happen to a family member.
I sorely wish I’d purchased a large. Feels too big/too long all around compared to my 526pj. And several sizes larger than my black 101j. Can’t figure it out. If there’s somebody who bought a large and wants to upsize to an xl I’m all ears for a trade. It’s such a beautiful jacket. Sleeve diameter is spot on. Otherwise it’s going back. I’m 5’11” 210lbs

It’s nice for sure. I do wish the body of the jacket was a bit more tailored. It’s cut a bit like the 50’s Levi pattern.
