Cheers for input guys - have thought about 25oz, but I like to get decent whiskers etc, and wonder how possible that'd be in anything more than the 21oz I'm wearing now, which are beginning to crease and fold beautifully…

Fortunately, I'm used to running one pair at a time into the ground, so maybe just stick with what I've got for a while (which I'm thrilled with).

It's that old 'want' versus 'need' conundrum - if I'm brutal with myself, then I don't need another pair, I just want some  ::)  and love that 18oz raw...

These are my first IH jeans (first of any heavyweght) and I'm just blown away by them - the fit is perfect - I'm slim and they fit beautifully. Was a bit worried that the rise might be slightly too low, but needn't have worried - each time i wear them, they fit better, and the rise seems perfect now, as they've given a bit here and there. They just seem to sit, effortlessly, in a perfect position.

Knocked out by this 21oz denim - soft yet not at all flabby - plenty of stiffness there. And the construction of the jeans is very good. Just love wearing them - each time it's a real treat.

Tried on the DF's in raw, but no experience of this denim when washed. Loved the roughness and slubbiness.

^^ the measurements differ depending on the method of shrinking,wash/soak/hot/warm..

I've posted in this thread somewhere the measurement of my size 32, after 2 hot soak and 2 boiling soak…i think the shrinkage is probably much done.. maybe you wanna check that one out for reference...

EDIT: here's the measurement size 32:

Waist:  31.5"
Thigh : 11.4"
Hem : 7.8"
Inseam : new at 36" --> current at 34.6"

Shrinkage - do these snug up much in the width, apart from the waist - how muh change is there in the seat and legs?

How much do they actually shrink in length - IH says approx 2", SE says 2.5", and reading Giles' experience, about 1.5"

In my last job I had a 'work experience' chap working alongside me. He used to crack me up - always coming out with wacky stuff. Two of his gems that I remember are - 'No problem's too small to run away from' and, 'It wasn't qualifications that got me where I am now'.

You guys probably know this already, but I'm new to all this and it worked for me, so I thought I'd share it. Got my new jeans - DC4001, hot soaked to get shrinkage out (.75 in length, measured straight after drying, became .5 after a little wearing), then sent them off to Giles for hemming. Got them back, obviously un-roped hems, so, because I don't aim to wash them for months, soaked the hems, hung to dry, and noticed that there was plenty of roping on the inside, but none to speak of on the outside.

Struck me that this was because the denim bunches up on the inside of the circle (tighter radius), and tries to stretch on the outside.

Soaked agin, inside out, hung out to dry, still inside out, in our glorious English sunshine til dried to a (crinkle-cut) crisp, checked and hey presto, lovely roping. no washing involved.

Why was the weft changed from white to pale beige, on the 21oz? AFAIcan make out, it's stayed white on the other IH indigo denims. Just curious  ???

I have DC4001 in tag size 31, measured 31 when new, and easily stretched to 32 after wearing for a couple of hours - 21oz, obviously - jsu checking that the 18 oz raw will go from 31 (tag size 30) to 32 after washing/wearing. I have tried on a pair of 666s in the same raw denim as the new BB - they were tag size 30, measured 31 when new. I didn't buy them, so no wash/wear stretching experience, but they seemed like they would have been perfect when stretched a little.

I guess I'm a little confused by BB raw tag size 30 and 666S tag size 31 both measuring 31 when new, even though they're the same denim!

Beatle - just to be clear on sizing - the jeans I wear are waist 32 and I have slim arse/thighs. In bb raw, if I get size 30, they actually measure 31 when new, and easily stretch to 32 after washing and wearing? Also, lengthwise,do they deffo shrink 2"?
