    Does anyone own the N-3 utility shirt? http://www.superdenim.com/prodpage.asp?productid=3143

    I'm trying to figure out sizing - Superdenim doesn't provide shoulder to cuff measurements and I'm afraid the sleeves will be short on my monkey arms. Any info on RMC shirts would be much appreciated!

    Amazing boots! I already liked the pics from some pages before a lot where they look rather blueish. Now the color seems to be lighter than on the website. I wonder which is closest to reality.

    Nice socks btw!  🙂

    Thanks! I would say the boots only look bluish in photos. They're really a light grey. Smokey even.

    @mental floss I own the reverse kudu smoke boots and I highly recommend them. The most buttery and dense leather I've handled (wearing mine today). There is a third sample sale coming at some point, but Guy told me things have been crazy and they haven't been able to set it up yet. It's a real crap shoot. If you really want a pair of Vibergs, just buy them direct. The sample sales have SOME cool options but as others have noted, they can have some glaring defects or - in the case of the pair I wanted to buy - they have been previously worn!

    Boondocks are cool too - but I like the uniqueness of the kudu, especially in that color. You won't be disappointed (and if you're a 10.5 in Red Wing, unless you have a super wide foot I'm pretty sure you're a 10 in Viberg).

    In case you need some help deciding 🙂

  • RE: Viberg

    I think it totally depends on application. For those urban soldiers like myself dainite is fine. It's discreet and has more traction than a leather sole. On icy days no vibram or anything else is actually going to save you. I prefer a flatter sole on icy ground because I feel like I have more control. If you're actually tromping through snow and mud with your Viberg's then why are we even having this conversation? (I ask this rhetorically to no one in particular). Vibergs are the ultimate blend between work and fashion boot. Those of you doing actually physical outdoor work in them should obviously buy commando soles, etc. I would be willing to bet you're a minority in terms of the General Viberg demographic…

    I made that modification in close coordination with Guy and Morgan. They would never have agreed if it would have somehow been detrimental to the boot design. But hey, who knows! All I know is, Viberg is the tits.

    @mclaincausey:

    IMO taking height off the heel ruined the profile and it looked uncomfortable to me. Also hate Dainite and didn't think it made sense with the boot. I do like SSOL though, wonder where he went.

    I'm around 🙂 just busy and having kids and shit.

    In my defense, all you naysayers know not what you speak. Like dainite or not, the copper task boot was infinitely more comfortable with the lower heel. Not to pick a fight G, but plenty of 8 inch boots have heels like the one I had put on, I don't think it messed with the weight distribution at all; in fact, having worn worn them I can testify that it didn't. I only sold them to go on to other Vibergs I was obsessing over more. Like these for instance:

  • RE: IHVB-03CT - Iron Heart/Viberg 8" Smoke Jumper - Reverse-out "Copper Task"

    SO I'm waiting for the mailman to deliver my newly re-soled IHVB-03. I decided to have the commandos taken off and had VIberg put on flat dainite soles. Now I know this goes against the concept or something, but I just couldn't get into the technical look. Plus I didn't like walking around with those big lugs on the bottom. I'm hoping that I have "refined" them a bit, made them look more like something James Bond would wear hunting in 1962.

    Pics to follow shortly…

  • RE: Nanamica gore-tex jackets

    Interesting. I have read conflicting opinions of how well gore tex really works in the hotter weather. I am basically looking for something that I can wear over a t shirt/henley in warmer climates, but that is still stylish but functionally weather (water) repellant. City life is what I live, so I don't need any jacket to withstand harsh physical conditions.

    For example, this is what I saw in person and instantly fell in love with:
    https://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/outerwear/Nanamica/PRDOVR~A2809/A2809.jsp

    What I'm wondering is how long it will last from seasonal wear in a city. I have a Barbour that I love, but above 70 degrees F. it is just too hot. Plus I don't love the Barbour + t shirt look.

    Another alternative might be something like this:

  • RE: Nanamica gore-tex jackets

    @DanielAFC:

    I don't have any experience with the nanamica stuff, but goretex fabrics are the same across the board.  The fact that they don't specify which product from goretex they are using (active shell, pro shell etc) knocks a ton of credibility off them for me, but as I said, no hands on experience with the product.  If you'd like goretex and fashion combined I'd look at the arcteryx veilence lineup for some comparison shopping.  Durable unfortunately isn't the first word I would use for goretex though.

    IMO if you don't need goretex for the technical purposes ( water reppelance, ultra light weight and packable, wind resistance in extreme conditions) there are probably much more suitable products out there for you

    Yea this is pretty much what I was thinking regarding it's useful for me. Thanks for the insights!

  • Nanamica gore-tex jackets

    Does anyone have any experience with nanamica? Is their gore-tex stuff worth the high price tag? I always thought a good barbour would be more durable, but I handled a nanamica gore tex field jacket and it was amazingly light, perfect for warm weather.

    I don't know much about nanamica so any input is appreciated.

    It's myish size.  It's black and in Japan.  I would think that H will keep it, but I'll ask…

    I will be most sincerely interested if it stays in your hands.
