Thanks for organising such a nice event!!
It was indeed a really good event!! Thanks to the IH crew for organising it and it was a lot of fun to meet with all of you
I would have to agree with the article, just wear what you want to wear… This one of the rare occasions where I am actually following my own advice
I've heard that it's a great place to visit. In fact, somewhere in this thread, I posted a link showing a bit of the Bond barn. As for whether it's worth the five hour round trip through some of the more bleak landscape that Arizona has to offer, I can't say…
Thanks, will see if that trip gets confirmed and how it goes
Wild only starts to describe
Which one is your favourite… and would you wear it?
I'd probably go for that crazy python one
Yep, Paul Bond makes quality boots. Bond himself was something of a legend; he started making boots while he was working as a professional rodeo cowboy and just kept doing it. He went in to work most every day up into his 80s. I'm not familiar with who's been running things since his death in 2012, though.
Thanks for the info, might be in Phoenix in a few months, so just wondering if it's worth visiting his shop, it's over two hours and half drive.
He said on my 60th, he's going to send it to me with ^UK inserted before Boss…..
That's a great idea!
Would have loved to be there!
And he did rock that killer vest! Happy Birthday
Mine is a large and I am generally size 42, do you want me to take some specific measurements?
@Sam:
Hey @EvilTwin
I can't speak for all of their collection but it was my impression that they're going for a tailored fit on more of their garments. I'm not a massive guy but my shoulders are broad and my arms are long and that varsity jacket fits me better than some of my Gieves and Hawkes suits. I did just put it on and start wearing it so i didn't look at the size but i'm pretty sure it was a medium and i have a 38-39 inch chest, 32-33 inch waist.Hope that helps.
Is it the same as the blue one you had before?
@reddevil thats a sweet lookin pair of shitkickers!
Thanks! I am certainly enjoying them
@Red Devil - a texas trip is a must - great food, cool scenery, fantastic music and, of course, a wide selection of western style boots. I'm from Fort Worth, so I have to suggest visiting the Stockyards. Swing by Leddy's to get some custom boots made, sip a margarita in the Joe Ts garden and enjoy a garlic stuffed filet from Lonesome dove…
Almost makes me want to drive the 700 miles home now and do it all myself haha
Thanks @Appfaff, I will definitely ask for advice on where to go and what to do if I can make that trip happen!
Overall, their boots are pretty good quality for the price. I have a few pairs from them. I'm hesitant to recommend them, however, since the last couple of times I ordered, a few things went wrong. They were very reasonable about fixing things, but the experience soured me a bit on them. That said, it's been over five years since my last purchase, so they may have ironed out the kinks in their QC by now.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I am thinking I need to find a way to include a visit to Texas next time I get sent to the US, it would be so much fun!
I would check out David Espinoza
Thanks for that recommendation, I had the chance to visit his shop and will be getting a pair from him on my next trip to the US. We found the last that suits my feet best.
Very nice boots - I like the hybrid toe - nice balance between round / snip and square
I was wondering what that toe was, as it didn't seem to fit any of the toes of the boots I saw at boot barns. It's called a french toe apparently.
And this company seems to be making something similar:

While we're on it, anybody has any experience with Champion Attitude Boot Co -CABOOTS?
They certainly seem to have an impressive selection
@4c:
Wow, excellent choice.
Thanks! It was a bit of a gamble as there are so many makers out there
Interesting stitch pattern. It's unusual to see one that's asymmetrical. I'd like to see more of it, if you don't mind sharing.
Sure! Would be curious to hear your thoughts on this, your posts in this thread have been very informative to me
Here are more pics, do let me know if you need one taken from specific angle or position
Good maxim…..
Spoken like someone who experienced this as many times if not more than I have
This pair comes from Heritage Boots, http://heritageboot.com/ and is this one specifically:
http://heritageboot.com/style/heritage-men/cognac-caiman-boot/
Originally I had planned on this one:
http://heritageboot.com/style/heritage-men/blood-simple-2/
But they didn't have my size.
Another contender was this pair:
http://heritageboot.com/style/heritage-men/the-triad-boot/
But alas no size either, at least not for now. They do have me on the list to contact when they make more of them in my size
I was looking for a classic pair in calf leather initially, but size availability dictated otherwise.
Very happy with these in any case
Already thinking of a next pair… probably tooled leather, I can see how far this can go
