I met Bob Mould after the show actually. He was sitting in the alley behind the venue by himself and bummed a cigarette from my buddy. We chatted. He was cool. This was 35 years ago mind you.

Yeah it’s in DC and I’ve seen them so I’m not pressed. Driving to DC is a pain in the ass.

I guess it comes down to who you think the heart of a band is. Some players are replaceable, others not so much. And of course it’s subjective.

I would never listen to Van Halen without DLR or EVH.

Now that you mention it I would also concede that AC/DC is still AC/DC without Bon Scott and just as good. As with most things I say and think they are not written in stone.

I concede tue “new” guy is great. He’s just not Steve Perry.

This is more of a rant but I don’t want to see bands without their major players. Queen with that other dude. G&R without Axl. I don’t even fuck with Pixies without Kim Deal. Some bands I accept have rotating members but it’s like going to a basketball game to see LeBron and he stayed home. Even if they win it’s not what I went for.

Too bad those planes don’t have air conditioning.
