  • RE: IH-888S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

    I am kind of surprised no one have mentioned/ compared yet  IH-633S cut  ex Self Edge
    Some food for thoughts here: IH-888S/ IH-633S this year 2017/ IH-633S last year 2016
    (Noted waist measurement method is different Haraki IH Ltd(GB) vs Self Edge Kiya

    Tag Size 36/ 36/ 36
    Waist 36.2/ 37/ 36.5
    Front Rise 12.3/ 11.4/ 11.7
    Rear Rise 16.7/ 15.25/ ?
    Thigh 13.6/ 12.75/ 13.3
    Knee         9.4/ 9.5/ 9.7
    Hem         8.6/ 8.4/ 8.3

    P.S.: wow.. just have noticed great (!) thigh difference between 633 versions 2016 vs 2017

    IH x Fjallraven collab: special edition Fjallraven's G-1000 fabric (65% polyester and 35% cotton - indigo this time): Skogso, Montt, Sarek jackets, cotton poly-core goldenrod thread…. and let your kids inherit your jackets after decades of tough use..

  • RE: The Real McCoys

    Your solidarity and unity is convincing, gentlemen. IH-816 then. Unanimous decision.
    Thank you.
    …However, anyone here own RMC Blue Seal?

    Gents, I am in need of semi-tough pants and your advice: Real McCoy Blue Seal or IH-816 ?
    ( …and yes, I know an approved forum answer: "Why not both?") Anyone here got them both?
    And any idea where to get RMBS cheaper than £162.50 ex superdenim?

  • RE: IH-816 - 17oz Duck Work Pants

    @den213:

    I now own 5 pairs of these, if that speaks to the level of quality.

    How would you compare fabric of these with IH-707?

    I am asking because I just received mine 707 last week. Disappointed. Well built, nice fit, sturdy but completely dull, boring, lifeless fabric with no character.
    Disclaimer: I do not want to be on a negative vibe. I own 6 pairs of IH jeans, love them all and believe IH 21oz denim is the best money can buy.

    @Giles:

    …. I can put you in touch with a brand who may want to do that.  ......

    Thank you, Giles.
    I'll really appreciate if you PM contacts or point out the direction… Actually I am already fully determined to go  bespoke if I succeed to source the fabric from Seido or from the loom. Need to get home first. In a few weeks...

    @dylantbmayes:

    ^ Kapital Pea Coat with Iron Heart tag?

    • No!
      A different garment. Not sashiko imitation by Kapital. Perfection is already exist. Name of it: double weave Sei Aizome. From KuSakura workshop. Can we get it? Thick. The heaviest. As I understand there are a very few crafters who are capable of weaving a high quality Sashiko heavy double weave fabric. The one which is used for the heaviest type of Kendogi.
      The IH sashiko jacket as I see it: Simple classic pea coat may be with a bow to Kendogi design. Entirely tailored in Sashiko (rice grain weaving) on the upper part, and the Hishisashi (diamond weaving) on the lower part. Twill collar. No fancy pattern. The simplest, the plain version that succeeded for the manufacture of Kendogi because of its great strength. And of course, Aizome dyeing.

    This jacket will last forever. Forever I mean. And my son will inherit it.

  • RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer

    Can anyone here to point out the direction where to look for :

    • sashiko, heavy one: double weave Sei Aizome, genuine traditional natural indigo dye
    • indigo tonal thread (the one used in indigo/indigo 633S)?
    • yellow poly-cotton IH or any similar quality thread?

    Thank you.

    P.S.: I got a well developed obsession/design idea and lady-tailor, real good. Say, 80% completed.
    All I need: remained three things above.

    Yes, this is definitely possible, any tailor can do that for you, just make sure they do it from the inseam so they retain the selvedge edge on the outseam.
    You can have them tailor just taper the leg so that the leg opening is 1.5" smaller.

  • RE: IH-633S - Self Edge x Iron Heart 21oz Selvedge Straight Tapered

    633s and 633n are my current favorite jeans in my collection. I like the cut.

    Recently I expanded my collection of boots, wants to show off my footwear and suddenly I clearly realized that my ideal perfect dream cut would be exactly 633  but with a smaller leg opening, i.e. with a heavier taper from the knee to the hem.

    I know nothing about cuttin jeans and tailoring so here is my question: can I buy two more pairs of 633(N+S) and send/bring them to the tailor so to take off another like 1.5 inch from the hem? Is it possible technically?
    Thanks to those who answered.
