      Lots of sun today. These jeans remind me of my cat, black in a way but soft and shiny, and pearlescent luster much like my cat in the sun.

      The sun briefly came out so I took the opportunity to go outside in my underwear and take a couple more pictures.

      This is my favorite detail about these jeans… How curly the selvedge ends are. It makes some interesting fade patterns and awesome train tracks on the outseams and there's a curl on the right inseam too.

      The honeycombs are super interesting and they have a ton of character and depth.The sun vanished again so they don't appear as bright.

    • RE: IH-634S-19L - 19oz Left Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans

      Folks, it's absolutely ridiculous how soft the hand is of these jeans now. Even crazier when you consider just how rough and almost "scratchy" from the onset  😃

      Anyway, I'm laying in bed with insomnia- like usual, and I'm gently rubbing my hands across the surfaces of these jeans. I especially love the stiffness of the denim and how the denim creases. The apex of the creases are extra soft (from abrasion and my obsessive stroking of the denim) in contrast of feeling the sharpness on the folded over seams of the pockets, and the abrasiveness of the poly-cotton thread- is so great.

      People sometimes ask about how my jeans always have the electric blue and sharp creases they do… And I think it's because I'm always stroking my legs. I know this sounds completely insane. I read over 9 years ago on Superfuture, someone admitting they were, "…always touching their legs in Iron Heart" ... And I don't mind if you think I'm weird by admitting this. I'm definitely guilty of being a lot flaky, but completely harmless.  😃 I swear I'm not on drugs or drunk writing this. I'm just so very tired and completely ecstatic about the prospect of having a new and meaningful job and so grateful for you guys sending me these jeans.

      I apologize for always going off-topic and always being so sappy and introspective. But I am really going through a lot of personal turmoil and strife and things aren't great at home either. A few weeks and months ago, I had almost lost the will to live. I was ready to zero myself. But now I have some glimmer of hope.

      It's strange to me that certain material things like these jeans mean so much to me. Like I'm completely obsessed with all the details of the different pairs of jeans and clothes I have, and I fantasize about and loathe the fear of losing them or having to sell them. But most of the time my life is completely worthless to me. I often think about how great it would be to go to sleep and not wake up. But then I think about the awesome spring flannels IH is going to have next year, and what the evo on my jeans will be in a year from now. And could I possibly manage to keep wearing the same pair of jeans without having to buy something new to be obsessed with and fall in love with again, all over.

      So like I am hopeful that things will be better if I can muster the drive to persevere and I hope to keep sharing my enjoyment of this stuff with you. And I hope we will all survive all the crazy stuff that is going on in the world too. The threat of constant endless war and how Humanity is facing the brink of extinction, and nuclear annihilation. All these things weigh so heavy on my mind. What I mean is let's be positive and get through all of this together. I sincerely appreciate your friendship, even if it is digitally from a distance.

    • RE: IH-634S-19L - 19oz Left Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans

      Hey guys, out of the bag I am completely shocked. Like what a cool thing to do. It's cool to have the 19lht to compare side by side to the 21lht…  My initial thought was I should maybe see about returning for a size 35... But out ot the bag the difference in in 21L and my new 19L it perfect (because the old 21L are now a touch too big).

      Side by side you can see the difference in the waist, even though they are the same size, same cut

      Speaking about the denim, I'm completely blown away. The denim almost feels like rinsed 25XHS just slightly more compact in the gauge of yarn used I suspect. The 19L feels/looks more like XHS than 21L, the 21L feels more like 21 flagship than the 19L. The coloring is completely different.

      I really love the somewhat minimalist leather tag. It should look wonderful aged.

      You can see the difference in thickness, coloring, and selvedge ID

      I could go on and on about these and make a giant wall of text. But I won't. I'll just keep updating my thoughts. Thanks so much guys! I am so incredibly grateful 💕

      Can you please make this 4 and a half times bigger and put some 21 oz denim on a few parts? hint hint but it needs to hold a ton and be big enough to fit my ginormous ass… also add another strap...

      X-post

      @Filthy:

      I wanted to post an update and answer my own question regarding the XHS BB denim:
      @Filthy:

      That's awesome. Do they have a soft hand or is it rough?

      After wearing these for a couple wears, they definitely do have that velvety XHS hand that I love and admire so much. They feel every bit as thick and heavy as the other pairs of XHS I have owned. The denim has a very smooth hand compared to the 21oz SBG pair that I have them to compare them to. I think I wore that SBG pair about nine months or so and they are unwashed. The 21oz denim kind of has an almost corduroy feel to them and the XHS feels smoother and more dense and velvety. I love it.

      I got the tagged size 36 waist to stretch from a 35.7 (soaked) to exactly a 37 (both the Self Edge laid flat method, and IH method).

      I am so pleased with these jeans and am very grateful to have them!

      Some evo pics:

      I really wish this had all regular buttons. I would buy this vest again if it didn't have snaps on V2…

      But I was walking tonight on a chilly evening appreciating how my vest feels like suede or polyester to the touch. It has been not soaked or washed and the denim feels amazing. I think it has the softest and silkiest hand of any denim I've ever experienced.

    • RE: IH-555S-SLB - 16oz Slubby Selvedge Denim Super Slim Cut Jeans - Indigo

      I know maybe not everyone will like my assumption because I don't have the financial resources to try absolutely everything that's out there..

      The quality and the construction of these (I get to experience in the Pronto variety) and the distinct quality of the denim, these are absolutely the most top notch quality slubby lighter weight jeans I have been able to see or wear. Going to see as much denim in stores I can possibly do. They are very interesting and also intense to wear for me because of the slub. But the core of the denim in between the slub is as soft as all the other IH denims. The thing that is remarkable is how sturdy and meticulously crafted everything is.
      I really appreciate the effort that went into making these and everyone's effort getting them into my hands. My jeans are probably the most entertaining part of my life.

      I had to turn these up so I can see the crazy pattern and texture of the inside of the denim.

    • RE: Ultra Heavy Raw (UHR), AKA 21/23oz Denim

      What I mean is if you don't plan on washing them to shrink them now, then don't do it ever. Because the shift would be very drastic. If they shrink 3cm then the creases will be 3cm off after a wash because of the loss in length.

      I had two pairs of UHR and my first pair I washed to shrink and it got some marbling. This is why I built a small washing machine out of 5 gallon buckets. So for my next pair I can shrink them and try to mitigate any skewing and twisting in the washer.
      https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=16554.msg712160#msg712160
      My second pair I did two hot soaks before I even tried them on or wore them, and they haven't seen water since and never will.

      But please don't listen to my advice and just wear them like you planed on. I kind of regret bringing it up now because I don't want to create any FUD (fear, uncertainty, and despair)

      But everyone has their own way they like to do stuff and that's okay. I just like how the denim feels when it is raw and crispy so this is why I do all the weird things I do.  I also love high contrast fades from an aesthetic standpoint… But I don't necessarily like them more than a vintage fade for wearing them all the time (because it is not as loud).

      This being said the official word is:
      @Giles:

      Denim Sailor.  With this particular denim/jean, if you do not soak you will have them falling apart within 2 months.  You need to get rid of some of the starch and bed the constructional threads into the denim.  If you do not the denim is so abrasive that the constructional threads will abrade through.  I promise you, if you don't do this (and I have one very disappointed customer who thought he knew better), you too will be very disappointed….G

      @Giles:

      I always do it the Haraki way:

      The following is Haraki’s advice on how to treat your Ih-634SR before you wear them:
      "This denim is not processed. It will shrink and skew. I have made this pattern "shrink to fit", after washing or soaking a couple of times it will shrink to tag-size
      When you get your jeans, soak them in a bath tub of cold water overnight. Turn them inside out and then wash them in a washing machine at no hotter than 30 degrees C, you do not need washing powder or detergent
      Don't spin too fast and don't put them in a tumble dryer, it is far better to allow them to air dry (still inside-out) in the sun, try to smooth all wrinkles in the fabric before the jeans get too dry
      After the initial soak, the leg will shrink about 2", after the wash, there will be further shrinkage of about 1". So in total you will get about 3" shrinkage. Please bear this in mind if you are hemming before washing”

      On subsequent washes, always wash inside out and do not spin too fast or tumble dry.

    • RE: IHSH-17 Heavy Chambray Quilted Western Shirts

      I was just wearing this in my bedroom and I think this might surpass the 64 as my favorite IH shirt of all-time. I love the color of the chambray and the feel, the wine colored liner, the gussets and chain stitch runoff, and the tight clicky snaps.  It's interesting how the sizes of stuff have evolved over the years… Because a 2xl fits perfectly and the sleeves length is perfect for me. I am so grateful to have this shirt. I'd love to track down the other 2 colors.

    • RE: IH-805 - 21oz Indigo Selvedge Denim Double Knee Overalls

      My overalls have these psychedelic electric blue fades happening all over. I am amazed. Also, it seems like the filthier these get the more insanely soft they get. I was looking at the denim through a magnifying glass in the sun recently and I couldn't believe the sheen and color composition of the denim. It is like an infinite spectrum of blues and prismatic rainbows all over in the sun. Stuff like this makes me believe in God.
