I almost bought my wife a pair for her next boots, but she shreds leather soles too quickly.
A good cobbler can attach a thin rubber 'sole protector' layer on the leather sole to extend the endurance of the sole. Or, you can just have them re-soled with a full vibram type (rubber) sole, but that definitely changes the aesthetic.

either aesthetic is going to be covered in horse shit moments after stepping out of the car, so that may be a decent option afterall.

It's called "Snip toe". It's a great look for those who don't want the pointy toe or the square.

@Chap I seem to have this knack, call it a talent, or a flaw, whichever you like, for not being able to even conceive or consider what Hot Ingrid would think until things are ordered, paid for and on their way to me.
The brutal reality comes crashing in eventually but by that time there is no option other than to grab the tiger by the tail and take the inevitable consequences. Works for me [emoji1]

Not sure if you’re referring to the boots I posted, or the ones you posted - but in either case, neither has a ‘snip’ toe (sorry to sound snobby).

Yep - as you say, those are actual snip toes. Not my thing (my Lucchese’s have 1, 7, and R toes) but I know plenty of folks that can pull off that look.
Not super familiar w/ Chisos but think I’ve heard generally decent things. For that price point you have as well look into Lucc’s 1883 line.. lots of variety.
For anyone out there that really digs the wide-square toe look.. only

Yeah, I tried on the 1883s in Texas this Xmas - very nice boots. I have a pair of thrashed 2000s that I wore non stop in college - they desperately need new soles but the stitching is so busted, it’s not really worth it.
I’ve been curious about the Chisos - I agree they are probably kinda overpriced.
And honestly,
Not sure I can rock full snips being a bigger guy.. I kinda settled into my hybrid toes (I’m sure there is an official name that I have no clue about lol)

Same here… adding a little bling from time to time makes things smoother.
Well, showed here some of the Luchesse boots yesterday... she looked at me and just raised her eyebrows. Kind of Iwillchangedoorlockseyebrowsraising...
