Been giving some older American Indie music a listen recently. Bands like Pavement, Sugar, and the Pixies…....anyone else dig this kinda stuff?

Also got back into James, and I didn't realise that Tim Booth (of James), played Victor Zsasz in Batman Begins, and voiced him in the Arkham games.

I wore out my cassette tapes of Copper Blue and File Under Easy Listening.  Yes, I'm that old.

Excellent, I bought Copper Blue when it first came out (1992?), and recently bought it again on CD, great album.

I've also been been listening to Slanted and Enchanted, and Westing By Musket And Sextant by Pavement, which I hadn't listened to in absolutely years. Stand out tracks for me being "Trigger Cuts" and "Box Elder".

I watched American Pie Reunion a couple of days ago, and that reminded me to dig out my old James back catalogue. I remember back around 1990 loads of people walking around the UK in T Shirts that simply said "Come" across the front (as in the James song Come Home).

Also, just to add, some of you guys seem to REALLY love Phish. I have never heard a single thing by them, so please recommend me a starting point to check them out.

Mega start with The Story of the Ghost or Rift. They are not really a studio album band. Their live music is significantly better. MikeC is the man to ask. It took me some time to get used to them but, once you get it, there is no turning back. They are simply an outstanding rock n roll band.

                    Sounds like fun  😉

I'll pick up those albums, and listen to them on my next long car journey. I find this the best way to get into a new band  😃

And Finn, I don't know if that video made me want to check Phish out more or less  :-\

Mega you and I have very similar tastes in music. I was very skeptical at first as well. If you give them a fair chance and let it all sink in. You will be pleasantly surprised, buckle up your going to enjoy the ride.

We certainly do have very similar tastes in music, almost spookily so, right down to obscure English indie bands from suburbs of Birmingham  :-\ (Neds Atomic Dustbin)

What are your thoughts on Faith No More? They were my favourite band for years.

Also, apparently the Springsteen concert in London last night was legendary. He played for 3 and a half hours, got Paul McCartney up on stage with him, took a request for one of his more obscure songs from a guy holding up a cardboard sign, and had his microphone switched off for breaching late night noise laws…......quite a performer.

Mike Patton is a genius and it doesn't get any better then Springsteen. I have gone to 5 shows this year and Jake my 4 year old attended his 1st show this year. My son loves the Boss. If you ask him what his favorite bands are he will tell you Bruce, Clutch, Phish and Leatherface.

As for Phish, it's all about the live performance. When you go to a show, it's not what you think. It's laid back but there are not a ton of people in tie-dyes, patchwork clothes and stink like petrulie. Its for the most part, normal people who all love rock and roll.  Check out 12/7/97, Ervin Nutter Arena, Dayton, OH. The show opens with their song AC/DC Bag into the Talking Heads Psycho Killer. The segue is seamless and is still talked about today. Shit is legend. The whole show was released by the band, so its fairly easy to find. And the whole show is awesome too, beginning to end.

Jeff can you send Rafa and Gavin that email I sent you outlining their different styles for each year?  Thanks and let me know what you guys think.

PS I don't do mind expanding drugs at Phish, I'm high on the music, know it.

Oh man, I've been a Patton fan since I was a kid. I've seen FNM at least 10 times, and Mr Bungle once, absolutely love Patton. One of my greatest moments was being spat on by Mike Patton when I was 16, can't believe it was THAT long ago.

FNM were supporting Guns N Roses at Manchester City's old stadium (Maine Road), I think it was 1992, Patton spat Pepsi over quite a few people who were close enough to the stage during "Epic", he didn't exclusively spit at me, ha ha.

At the same concert, Chris Cornell called me an "asshole" in front of almost 30'000 people, for putting an umbrella up on a sunny day…....I've hated Soundgarden ever since  😠

I believe his exact words were "Someone tell that asshole to put the umbrella down, it ain't gonna rain today".....I put it down and hid for a while  😞

Guns N Roses were shit as well.
