never been hit from rakuten either. Got hit hard once for a pair of jeans that came from the EU, that has been my only experience thus far… (*knocks on wood)

Yea I wonder what determines when.  I know there are guidelines but it seems when u buy from certain companies u usually dont get hit regardless of how valuable the item is.

Thanks guys. Now I just need to figure out whether I buy from BiG or Rakuten. $75-100 difference.

I think it's about declared value mainly. If its over a certain amount the govt wants a piece. If it costs a certain amount you want to declare that for insurance purposes. Catch-22.

              Think it, be it.

Given the choice, I'd rather buy from Blue in Green.  I bought my Oni jeans from Rakuten because BiG was out of my size, and the difference in price was almost completely negated after currency conversion fees, shipping and the cost of hemming.  I didn't have any customs charges, and the seller (I forget who it was) was great, so it all went smoothly, but I would have preferred the convenience of letting Gordon do everything for me.

No worries.  Just curious what the hit was like ordering from them.

...what would jesus you guys do? i'm mostly concerned to show some ink on the first big gig, where all the big bosses come together and shit…still "on probation" as you might need to know! 🙂

Keep on wearing a longsleeve if you are worried Rafa otherwise show off j/k 🙂 talk to your HR Manager in confidence in advance imho and ask about any Tattoo policies. I am working in a extremely conservative business and keep strictly covered, legs and arms. But most of our people and even clients know i am inked. However, I am always keeping covered. But tbh most of the people are relaxed nowadays, check the program with your HR and wear a shirt when the big guys show up.

I am sure there are quite a lot tatted up in your division 🙂

                        Cheers,

                          Rakuten- $215 + 30ish shipping + $25(local hemming) = $270
                          BiG- $325 + $30 tax + free hemming= $355

I'll most likely buy from BiG even though there's an $85 difference since I can try them on first.
Now I just need to call and have them hold a pair for me.

I really don't know how it's down your way, but here in situations like that tats don't matter. As far as I know.
in office enviroment and in business meetings I'm covered. Just out of courtesy towards others.

If you're unsure about policies, keep covered until you know it's cool….

Yeah, my circumstances swing it a bit more in favor of BiG; no sales tax for out of state purchase, plus additional shipping cost to send the jeans to someone capable of chainstitching the hem.  The ability to try a pair on before buying is worth a lot.  I've been pretty lucky thus far with my internet purchases, but the sizing failures hurt.

In my perpetual trawl around the Internet for all things denim related I have always noticed people from countries other than the UK discussing G-Star Raw denim on forums and in venues where, what I would consider, higher level brands are the norm.

My question is this, in the UK G Star is worn by chavs and nasty little urchins who enjoy having RAW plastered down their leg or across their arse. Is the perception of the brand different in other countries?

                                  Same question for Superdry?

"Loud" G-star is for the Belgian chavs, so is Superdry. The tackier the garment of said brands and the louder the placement of its logos, the prouder they sport it.

Finn, Lori and I both cover our tattoos when we're at events with corporate brass. It's a pain in the ass, especially for her. I've been shocked hearing some people openly discuss how they feel about tattoos. I was at a lunch one time with a person that was trying to recruit me and our waitress had a couple of visible tattoos. The gentlemen proceeded to express how distasteful it was and that he couldn't believe this "fine" restaurant would allow a waitress like that. He further explained how he just doesn't get this whole "tattoo" thing, and really thinks people that get them are complete idiots. Needless to say, I declined his offer. Now, that I'm the executive of a small business, my people are very comfortable with tattoos. In fact, when we have events for our company, Lori and I don't cover our tattoos at all. I think it really depends, and this first event, I'd play it safe.

Fat dudes need good clothes too.
