I can attest to the uselessness of Smart TV features. If you have a Playstation, XBOX, Apple TV, Roku, etc. you already have the same features. I have a Samsung 3D LED Smart TV. I don't use the smart features, at all. I've used the 3D a handful of times (there just aren't many films that utilize the technology on Blu Ray). The picture is excellent, though. I had it optimized with a calibration software program and I don't have any of the issues Chris mentioned; which, admittedly, are common problems with LEDs. I agree that for a no-fuss, great picture experience, next generation plasmas are probably the way to go. You certainly get the best value with them. Previous generation's concerns, such as burn-in, aren't an issue, anymore.

Another thing to note: the day after you buy your TV, the manufacturer will announce the next generation, which will be 33% better and 62% cheaper. You will be sad.

^that applies to pretty much all electronics sadly enough… I'd go for LED to stay on topic

but the choice is 51 plasma vs 43 led… not knowing size of the room, have to go with bigger. 43 is not that big

saw a 90 led yesterday... amazing

I'm sure this doesn't apply to you, Mega. But in the US, the best time to buy a TV, other than Black Friday, is before the Super Bowl and now, during March Madness. Real helpful, I know.

IJ, yes, don't get me wrong, I love my LED; but I think you probably get more for your money with a high-end plasma.

How about energy efficiency?.. My old LG plasma (42") has been crapping out recently, so all your intel is of great value to me (as well)!.. Thanks lads  🙂

I went with a completely different TV, and brand new to the market (last week) LG 43", LED. I can definitely tell that it is smaller, but in a week I won't notice any more. The picture is a major upgrade from my old LCD, it's an A rated energy efficient set, and I like the fact that I can now watch Netflix without turning on the PS3.

probably so, but LED should be also longer life…

sidenote, We have a 42" TV, I watch it from a bit over 2m distance. It's fine, used to have a 37" here which was OK also...
It's just what you're used to. And ask your wife...does the size matter 😉

Congrats, Mega.  Energy saving is a great feature that doesn't get enough credit.  Your TV sucks more energy than any other electronic, or appliance, in your house.

IJ, haha, agreed.  I will take picture quality over size any day.

For energy efficiency, get an edge lit (aka LED) LCD TV.  Nothing else is even close.

Plasmas are horrible energy hogs, and they put out a ton of heat.  Those are the biggest drawbacks, as far as I'm concerned.

Contentious question maybe, but I have an opportunity to acquire some Vibergs service boots in black CXL in exchange for another item. As a confirmed fan of Whites, would it be good for my perspective balance to give Viberg a go finally?

depends on what you are giving up.

mini or tommytron & i would have to think about it some more.
now a shirt, jacket or maybe jeans that don't get use consider it strongly.

oh also depends on the sole of the boot

                                          head high, middle finger higher
