      In a minute.

I asked the seller for a copy of the receipt. As the tracking # will be on that as well, they will have a hard time explaining why it says 65 $ on the receipt, and 38.85 on the tag and custom form… Let's hope I can annoy the USPS enough for someone to call up the UPS store in question and tell them to quit ripping people off...

Oh no: I'm not done here...  😉

cornely is still around, they're now part of the titan group. you can get brand new machines which allows you to programe in designs. old school one like roy's are manual operated only which takes a bit of skill use.

readily available so shouldn't be hard to find. if you get stuck PM me.

White's. I think this really just comes down to price.

I like the Viberg's about 10% more but the price difference for VERY similar quality shoes is quite high. The amount you could save would be more than enough to resole them in a year.

yeah bit hard to compare because the price difference. style wise i actually like whites because i like the chunkier toe and higher arch/back.

viberg differently have the better leather and construction, you can tell its really nicely hand lasted.

To Seul, the UPS Store or any other mailing store such as that adds a surcharge or USPS services. If they didn't, they would lose money, as they get no discount from the USPS for offering said services. I send people there all the time for UPS services and at the bottom of all of their receipts, it states that postal services are subject to a surcharge. It's pretty much understood that anywhere other than the Post office will charge more for that service. Same as anywhere you go other than UPS, you will pay more. At least thats the way it is here in the US

Wow that is really different from UK.  I get 60% discount off UPS published rates and I know that 3rd party logistics companies that utilise UPS get even more than that.  I know that because I am talking to one at the moment who will ship my stuff with UPS for less than I am currently paying UPS - go figure….

That's a corporate account G, totally different than a retail location such as The UPS Store. Retail locations are utilized as an extension of the UPS Customer center, where individuals can ship a one time package. There are no quantity or corporate discounts at retail locations. And seul's case, his shipper sent USPS which they are going to add probably 30-40% markup on because they get no discounts from the USPS. If they didn't markup, they would lose money on credit card fees and the like. It's more of a convenience service than anything.

Seul, thats just called business. The only reason you are upset is because you know what the actual cost is. When you buy a pair of $300 jeans, it probably doesn't cost anywhere near that. just knowing the actual costs changes your perception but the act of doing business remains the same. Just think that over.

I don't mind buying jeans for 300 €… It's a luxury product in a capitalist economy... But a basic service like using the fecking mail (despite the fact that it was UPS providing a USPS service) shouldn't cost anyone an extra 50 just for providing the convenience... That's like buying a bread for 15 $ at the library cause they went out of their way to provide bread...

In fact: I'm pretty sure it's not even allowed in Belgium to charge more for a postal service outside of the regular PO (yes we have lotsa supermarkets and such that allow you to ship from their stores)...

I'mm too tired to explain it and my English is appalling right now... But I think you know what I mean...

There's nothing illegal about it if you ask me but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one. I don't see it any differently than someone selling a hamburger or a shirt for profit. Nobody sells anything for cost and if they are charging 40% markup or whatever it is, thats alot better than the 300% or more you pay for everything else.

Well, the problem here is that your seller, let's call him "dumbass", for the sake of this post, went to a private vendor for his cheap public service.  Had dumbass followed your instructions and gone to the Post Office, there wouldn't have been this problem.

I don't think this is quite the same as your bread at the library example, either.  Dumbass went to a competitor to buy a product and got charged extra for the convenience.  So it's more like going to the Apple Store and buying a Sony laptop, then complaining because Apple charged an extra $900 above retail.  If dumbass didn't like the price, he should have walked out and gone somewhere cheaper.

The problem here isn't the business model, it's the lazy, ignorant consumer.  But hey, that's just my opinion…
