Hi, first pair of Iron Heart. Many thanks to Graham and Bailey for the help. Coming from Unbranded 221, 201, and Brave Star slim straight, I’m usually a 32 but went with a 33 in IH because the measurements were right. They fit great, pre-break-in, but the knees and lower thigh is quite snug when sitting. I’m sure once these are formed, they will fit like a charm.

Oh I also wanted to say, this denim is amazing. The 14oz somehow seems far more substantial than my UB 14.5, as if those were steamrolled. The IH 14oz feels thicker, softer, and fuller. I’d guess it’s due to a heavier yarn but a lower tension.

Also, if it helps anyone find their fit/size, I’m about 5’11”, 175 lbs, with a 35”waist. The fit just above the knee is the tightest spot for me with the 555 when sitting, but standing, when they drape, there are no spots where they cling. The pics above were taken after 1 days wear, and in that time there was noticeably more room around the knee.

Nice fit! I just started in my 14oz bb as well. I really like this fabric and agree with you, feels much more substantial than other fabrics in similar weight

Follow up: the more I wear these, I’m beginning to think this cut isn’t for me. I tend to wear my belt on the hips and that causes the crotch to sag, and with a high rise, that means reduced range of motion. If I pull them up so the crotch is where it should be , the thighs are too tight due to the aggressive taper above the knee. Maybe the 777???

That’s how I ended up with the 634 cut. The thighs are too slim in the 555 and 777 as well.
If you still want a tapered leg, then maybe the 888 would fit, but they have a significantly higher rise.

The other cuts seem a bit loose for me, especially the hem. With the 555, the top block and upper thigh is fine, it’s the sharp taper on the thigh to the knee that gets me. An extra 1/4” in the knee and these would be absolutely perfect.

@spaniarddh Thank you for saying so! ...but I found the 777 much less restrictive once I switched. The 555 had me fighting between crotch-sag or lower thigh so tight that I couldn't bend my knees. I guess comfort took priority. I do love my 777's tho.

I am sure that this has been asked and answered many times, but I can't seem to locate the answer...what is the main difference between the Black/Black bb version and the Super Black Fade to Grey SBG version of the 555? They both fade to grey, correct? Is the weight 21 vs 14 the main difference or will they wear in and fade in a substantially different way? Thanks!!!

@SaddleSC the 14oz has a black warp and weft. The warp is black sulphur rope dyed, the weft is black sulphur dipped.

The 21oz SBG has a black sulphur dyed warp and a black reactive dyed weft - reactive dyeing means no colour loss, so the weft doesn't fade whilst the warp does, resulting in the much vaunted fades that the denim is known for.

In my experience, the 14oz black/black denim does fade to grey a touch, in a much more muted manner. The SBG fades quicker and harsher
