@ls check out Dutil. They have 634s-142 in 38”

Great pair of jeans. I was looking to switch from a 25 oz. pair from another brand for the summer months, but was surprised they’re not actually that much cooler. Should’ve done a bit more reading here, really.

Still, brilliant jeans – I’m really enjoying them. Been wearing them pretty much every day for about two months now, no wash yet.

14oz don't get a ton of love but I find myself going to the 634 14oz more than any other pair I own. I've worn these on and off for 20 months. Wash them at least once a month.

Hi, I just grabbed a pair of these. Just looking for actual user feedback even though I know what the site says. Are people seeing these actually stretch 1 inch / 2.5cm in the waist? These fit me well but are on the edge of being tight and I'm wondering how long of a break in period I should give them to see how much the waist stretches and the top block relaxes. I grabbed these slightly tighter than ideal since it said it'll stretch but after 2 full days of wear they've only stretched .25 inch / .63cm. Is this the right thread, or should I be asking in a different part of this forum. Thanks!

@RobbieZev all my 14oz pairs have stretched over an inch in the waist, especially if they're sized down. If you're putting pressure on them, they'll stretch. More so if you wear them damp. I posted a thing i do if they're too tight in the waist in a sizing thread or something, but idk where it is. Dip the waistband in water then wear a while. or just keep wearing them dry. if they're still cutting into your hips after a couple weeks it may be time to size up.
-
@RobbieZev if they are just on the edge of being tight i would stick at it. Eventually they will stretch and depends on how much you wear it. Only you can be the judge as to whether its too small and unbearable. If its not too small, i would stick at it. My 14oz took maybe 3 weeks break in with consistent wear? Over time i felt it became comfortable as opposed to hugging etc ...

@WhiskeySandwich Thank you. I'm a little torn and put them up for sale but if they don't sell I might keep trying. They aren't too bad but when I lift my leg, it gets restrictive before 90 degrees. Is that evidence they might be too small?
-
@cyclops How was your range of motion lifting your leg before break in and after? When I lift my leg it gets restrictive before I get to 90 degrees...
-
@RobbieZev in my indigo/black version of these I got 2inches of stretch in the waist. I don't think I ever felt too restrictive in mobility though, for me that has been tied to too tight in the thigh/knee. I had some 666S-142 that didn't work for me. They had stretched over an inch in the waist, and even stretched the thigh a bit, but was never able to stretch enough to get full mobility like I have in my other pairs.
-
@RobbieZev hmm maybe reach out to the iron heart guys for expert advice. This is a straight cut so i wouldnt have thought you would have movement restrictions unless it is too small. Its hard to tell whether your thighs or the top block is at its limit though. I would say if you are struggling to get up the stairs in this cut then consider going up cause you have to be comfy. I have only encountered this issue with a slim 555 cut where i technically fit in but its restrictive
-
@RobbieZev Sounds to me like you need the next size up. Full disclosure I don’t buy my denim with stretch in mind, I but them to a fit comfortably right out of the gate.
-
@RobbieZev you could give them some time to fully break in and conform to your body and the range of motion should improve. However, I’ve had a pair or two that were just too small still and I had to size up. One size doesn’t really look looser though once they’re broken in, and comfort is worth it.
-
That all makes sense. Thanks everyone.
-
@RobbieZev also it helps measuring a pair of jeans you are comfy in, and then overlaying that with the specs of the pair of 634 that you have. Might give you more insights as to "where" its not working. You will probably need this in order to make a decision on future pairs that you buy anyway. So measure waist, thighs, knees, inseam and opening.
I was thinking with my pair i dont freely move to 90 degrees necessarily. I can do it but like for me thats not the measure. I can move and its all still within expectations of what i deem comfortable and mobile. So it all goes back to what you feel comfortable in and your expectations from previous jeans etc.

@ShopatIronHeart I saw that Iron Heart Japan posted about a restock of the 634s 14oz indigo on Instagram mid of April. Any idea when we can expect a restock?
-
@cyclops Yeah definitely. I bought these off someone who had bought them and hemmed them too short and was selling them inexpensive (brand new) . Ideally, I would buy 1 size up, but thought with the waist stretch maybe it would work, but they are slightly tighter all around than i prefer.

@robinvonbatman Hi! We are loosely looking at around June/July currently speaking. Keep an eye on this thread as this will be the first place to know, and sign up to restock alerts by selecting your currently out of stock size and entering your email address where prompted!
