Oh about the happy day…smiling comes very easily to me. I'm basically a happy person. But yeah...I'm leaving to London (2 days) and Paris (5 days) the day after tomorrow. Will be spending Christmas in Paris. So damn right...I'm particularly happy today !

Lando, thanks for the compliment. If I am not mistaken I'd have to upload the pics on flicker first, no? Oh, and I'd have to take some in the first place. Just imagine a 180cm more or less slim guy in a pair of 634SR and a pair of 9634Z…

Nothing to post a picture about, I'm afraid.

Shub, nice trip. Kinda jealous. I was just in Paris in November and lived and studied there for five years. If you need any tips, let me know. Go to the boutique in the Marais called "L'Eclaireur". It's Rue de Rosier and they have another one 50m down the street. I think it is Rue Malher. 4th Arrondissement. Very nice area anyway. It's where I lived. L'Eclaireur has been the hippest shop in Paris for more than ten years. No easy thing to pull off. The other one is Colette. Rue St. Honore, I think. Go there only at the end of your trip or you will spend all your eating budget. 🙂

I actually wear, depending on the outfit and occasion, a rabbit felt Borsalino Traveller Fedora with a 3" brim in dark grey or a Chullo, one of these Peruvian alpaca caps. A friend from Peru gave it to me and the thing is way better than anything else I've seen in that category. I have a range of other hat coverings but a nice watchcap is definitely missing. I got a French sailors beanie from Armor Lux in white with navy stripes, though. Wonder where that is...

        Cheers,

        Till

OK. This is just a try out. I shall post more as soon as I get to take some actual pictures.

I love this function. Not many forums have that. Good job!

Till, That is one Chunky Belt! If you want to upload you flicks to flickr or Photobucket that is always an option as well but not necessary as Giles stated previously. Uploading to one of these sites also allows you to rotate, blur, size, etc… If you would rather have your photos appear full size when someone opens/ reads a thread, I would recommend one of these sites.

Personally, when I want to do that I use:

Shoque put me onto it, and I love it.

Yes, the belt can literally knock one out. It is actually comfortable now, though. But when I got it, it was so stiff that when I took it off after trying it on in the shop, I had to pull it strongly and the loose end just flew out and almost hit the pretty, young shop assistant. Luckily, she took a quick step back. I apologized and said: "No worries, I won't hit you with the belt." I didn't think anything behind it. Says the little minx with a smile:"At least not with this one, please!" After my jaw was back in it's "normal" position I assured her that I had no intention of hitting her with anything at all. 😉

Too much trouble? Come on man that is horse shit. You are now currently the 3rd highest poster on this forum and you have posted a million opinions, observations, and questions but only ONE flick?!? As far as I see it, you get what you give on forums. It seems odd to call it trouble to add to a community that you take so much from. Just my opinion.
On another note I dig your belt and would love to see more items in your arsenal…

I am not the most public person myself either but there are ways around that. We just want to see the items you purchase, your fits, and opinions on them.

This is another shot of the belt.

So you got me in my 634SR. The waist is still a little tight but I gained some 3 kilos after losing 6 of them. On my way to the right weight again. Still not uncomfortable. The rear fits better than what it shows in the pics. This is one of the better looking jeans on my skinny butt. 🙂

The pullover is a zip-neck cashmere sweater in coral red from Uniqlo. The scarf is big Italian cashmere scarf in sky blue with a slight green tint. The jacket is the Stone Island Denim jacket in ballistic nylon I mentioned elesewhere. It is a great piece of gear. Fits very well, is very practical and not fragile at all. Also makes my shoulder seem really broad which helps.

The shoes are Denkstein brogues from Berlin, handmade, Goodyear welted in an absolutely wonderful two tone color that matches the belt very well and that I have not seen on any other pair of shoes ever! When I recently went shoe shopping while in Paris, all the salespeople went crazy for these shoes, even at Weston. They have a great story, too. We go to the Denkstein shop in Berlin because my mother saw some shoes in the window she liked. I discover this pair and think what an extraordinary color this is. The leather and construction are very good, too. It says it's a single pair left, reduced to 30% of the original price. Lo and behold, it's exactly my size and they are super comfortable. Now comes the kicker. The special color is there because these shows were in the window and got bleached by the sun in a very regular fashion. How great is that? Wabi-sabi par excellence and at a third of the normal price. Love it!

The 634SR look good on you, and still very brand new. I LOVE the Stone Island jacket !

Thanks for the kind words, Shub and Giles. Yeah, the jacket is getting a lot of compliments, too, and I must say it is very nice to wear. I almost didn't buy it. But then he made me such a good price that I couldn't say no. I'm a good deal sucker.

Shoes are seriously wabi-sabi, indeed. The little spot at the toe is just some water from walking through the grass outside, otherwise they are flawless. There is only one discreet hint to how that color has been achieved. On the other shoe you can see a single darker line where the laces were covering the leather. Nice touch, in my eyes.

If I have time over the weekend I will take some shots with the 9634Z and perhaps pair it with the Aero Longshoreman.

As for the weight, I still have a 33 waist and weigh about 73kg (around 162lb) plus minus 1kg, on 180cm that is not too bad. But when I am 71-72kg I fit in all my suits again, so that's the aim because buying new suits is a serious investment and mine are all still in great shape.

You can always put some electrical tape on the inside of the hems if you're concerned about that

The chainstitching is stronger and it will also give a somewhat irregular, bubbly hem. That's where you get what I'd call crown fading all around the leg opening.

You get a little bit of that roping with sanforized jeans and lots of it with unsanforized jeans. It's from the shrinking of the denim in one direction and the pull of the stitch in the other that gives you the roping effect.

                                        Sanforized jeans don't shrink much

Dr. Pat, absolutely no staining and no traces whatsoever on the shoes after several days of wearing both together. The leather is quite smooth and well waxed/polished. I guess that's why. And I wouldn't be afraid that would happen with other similar shoes if you want to get some.

When I wear my suede desert boots, otoh, I do get the staining and it is almost impossible to get out with just rubbing. Might have to soap them. But on the desert boots I somehow don't mind.

DougNG, excellent idea on the electrical tape and thanks for the explanation of wheat I called the bubble effect. Very good to know the real term and why it happens.
