Looks good! shrunk up very nicely. I need some cooler weather so I can start wearing mine…
In other news, the Black Townes finally went out yesterday. I should have it by Tuesday.
I was gonna reach out to SJ/Mike about it a couple days ago but I kind of get the whole Seinfeld “Soup Nazi” vibes from him. I figured he’d just be like “No Townes for you!”

@northsouthdenimguy thanks man very happy with how it turned out. I got my black denim in yesterday also. It was massive to start. I did a hot wash and dry but it’s a tad long still. Debating wearing as is, doing another hot wash and dry, or sending to railcar to hem. Can’t decide if I think a second hot wash and dry wil do anything, any advice or suggestions?

It’s hard to see it against the dark pants, but I think I would just hot wash the crap out of it and dry it for like an hour and see where it ends up…
From the looks of it, I don’t think you can over shrink it. You’ve got a good bit of room in it still.

@northsouthdenimguy thats kind of what I was thinking, and if after a second hot wash/hot dry it doesnt shrink then I think I would send it in to railcar. I just wasnt sure if it was worth a second wash/dry

I’m sure he is. All I know of him is what I’ve seen through interactions on Instagram and other places, and quite honestly, if I had to deal with most of these yahoos, I’d probably make Mike look like Mr. Rogers.

@northsouthdenimguy im with ya 100% been in construction for 30 years which certainly weathers you and diminishes patience for ignorance rather quickly.

@hgering27 Arms seem about right. I can't tell how it fits around the body. If it's still sort of "bulky" I'd do another hot soak otherwise (if it fits everywhere else) I'd just send to Railcar and get it to the correct length.

@northsouthdenimguy I feel like the response via email is different (more customer service positive) than the response via social media...It personally doesn't bother me but I could see how it could be misinterpreted...

@rahrah12 yeah its got a little volume in the body still, but fits well across the chest/shoulders which is generally the way I size my shirts. The length shrunk up a bit, but I'd like to get a little more.
I am going to try to do another longer hot wash and a longer hot dry tonight and evaluate, but Railcar did a great job on both of my sashikos so I know it would be in good hands

I will agree with that..
Probably just PTSD from my dad yelling at me as a kid for asking stupid questions. I tend to read too much into people’s personalities, but it does affect how I approach them.

@hgering27 YEA, I ended up having my Sashiko tailored after some hot soaks and it was worth it. Wasn't bad at previous length but was worth the extra investment.

@rahrah12 yeah for sure, I like them much more now that they are hemmed. They look way better with jackets. Originally on their own they looked fine, but they just poked out too much under any of my jackets.
as soon as I get home from work, I am doing this second hot session and then if no luck, hopefully get sent out to Railcar next week

The one thing with these SJ hats that’s always concerned me it the plastic adjustment band. Wish they used a leather one…
Did a make shift repair using gorilla glue and clipped plastic from a package. Taking it fishing today. See how it goes.

@Mizmazzle ive since lost the hat unfortunately but I had one of the brown waxed canvas hats a few years back
I cannibalized the strap and metal assembly from an ebbets hat and used it in place of the plastic one
Highly doubtful they would still do this now that the company has grown so much but before the waxed hat I had the strap break on another hat and I stopped by the shop after work one day and they replaced it with a new plastic strap for me
