funny that this picture captures two people looking down at their hands at the same time well before smart phones make this a common event today.

It was a time when jeans were not available for sale. They were sold by speculators at bazaars at two or even three times the price. For example, the official price of jeans in a Soviet store was 100 rubles. At the bazaar, speculators asked from 200 to 350 rubles, depending on the brand. Levis and Wrangler were the most expensive. Italian, German and Indian jeans were cheaper. And the average salary of a worker at the plant was 200-250 rubles. Although even now the same Iron Heart costs 45 thousand rubles. The average salary is the same.

@Walery-Smirnoff what a cool shot into the past and look at life of such an intriguing culture. I’d love to see more photos of this era!

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

I’m prob 6 or so in this picture. My grandpa and his buddies from the Legion used to get tanked up and come over Christmas Eve to hand out presents as Santa and his clowns. Equal parts elation and terror 😂

Sounds like the premise of a tom waits song

@Matt the thing I remember was how funny they smelled, a weird cologne or something.

10 years later I figured out it was scotch 😂
