Would you wear a leather jacket grown in a lab?

The link below is to an article I read today about bio-fabricated leather. The Alexander McQueen example notwithstanding, I think this could be an interesting and sustainable alternative given that you could theoretically "grow" the hides to any specifications you want in the future.

Wow that is amazing! What a time to be alive. Yes I would.
-
Meh, I kind of like the natural imperfection of leather. And since I intend to keep eating as much beef as possible, I don't really see there being a shortage in animal skins.
To answer the actual question: I wouldn't have a problem wearing one, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.

If it's as nice as regular leather, I'd be all over it.

How about a wedding ring grown from your own bones? :o
-
As a dude with a few chipped teeth, I'd be more interested in getting some lab grown replacements for them than lab grown bone rings.

Yes.
Anything that moves us in a direction that sees animals treated as something other than 'ingredients' is more than fine by me. -

There's been a lot of research into growing new teeth, at least that's what I heard a few years back. Don't know what progress has been made.
It's largely driven by two factors:
-
The US spends a huge amount of money on dentistry.
-
Unlike internal organs, if a replacement tooth fails, it's not a serious medical problem. Hence it's a good test bed for regenerative medicine.
They're coming, but it's a few years off yet.
