That seems to be bordering on cruel and unusal. I'd start negotiating terms. Drop sugar and bread sure, but cheese is an important source of protein and beer is the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.

Trying to understand the straps. I see how Sam (?) has it strapped, tied on his back. Is there enough material to tie it in the front, which is what I find most convenient? I have to say I'm puzzled by the choice that was made here. Is it a traditional pattern for a Japanese apron?

I tie at the front with a reef knot.  Sam and Alex ties theirs behind with a bow…....

I've got enough kit on here (76 and XHS in addition to the 17oz hickory) to fight fires, reach one of the poles, and survive being street pizza after jumping a tall building. As it is I'm making Melanzane alla Parmigiana.
