Sounds like a winner, I'd love to see some pictures when they come in!

Unlikely because I have this policy whereby i only post pix of IH products on the IH forum, but check out the harleybootguy's site, he's got loads of those pics, or the stompers site

I'm currently on my second pair of Jobmasters.  Also, just ordered these bad boys earlier tonight:

            CUSTOM BOSS
            STYLE BKF77001010 (Size: 10 1/2D)
              +Single-Tone:Black Fire
              +11" Height
              +#1010 Armortred Sole
              +Double Midsoles
              +Pull Straps
              +Buckled Instep Straps
              +Standard Length Instep Strap
              +Nickel Plated Instep Buckles
              +Lightweight Navy Upper Stitching
              +Black Outsole Stitching

Clint, did you get these? Have a pic? I'm curious how the Engineer Boots look without top strap but with pull tabs.

these are the closest I could find. Would be a cool build

Received my pair today. They are monsters. Huge, imposing, almost intimidating. Heavy, stiff. The breaking in is going to last quite a while, but I predict they will be my go-to pair of boots for the next 25 winters and falls.

The vibram soles are almost cleated. Great grip on the wet pavement riding back home this evening.

Am I glad I went for these. They are like prehistorical dinosaurs or something

Day 1: as mentioned in my previous post, they are very heavy and walking is slow in those beasts.

One huge problem: they are not lined and therefore the top stitch rubs like mad on the shin, which forced me to come back home and put on tall socks to get some protection, I was starting to bleed on one side and the other leg is bruised… Not good. With the tall thick socks, it is fine and dandy.

I'm too lazy, but if I werent, I'd ship them back to get lined...

Apart from that, they look terrific, are great for riding and apart from the top stitch ripping my skin, they are not at all uncomfortable despite being so stiff, heavy and monstrous.

                  I like them bad!

So, do I need to invest in a series of long socks or do they stop slashing my shins when they have broken in?

I'm not sure, that thread is pretty heavy…I wear my Boss boots more than my harness boots.
My Bosses are broken in and the stitching is still sharp so I'd invest in long socks to save your shins for now
at least. Maybe down the line your harness boots will break in better than mine and you'll be able to lower
                        your socks. 😉

Try rubbing a little beeswax on the stitching, helps a bit.

Price depends on what u want 400-1000. Wescos aren't fashion boots. They are tanks. They are the most rugged and durable engineer boots u can buy

My Boss boots were deadly on my shins for the first year or so. I bought tech sox http://www.techsox.com and they were the only socks that I found that would stay up all day. Now my boots are so soft that it doesn't matter which socks I choose. I actually prefer my shorter smartwool socks now. They'll soften up, don't worry!

Trying to be as objective as poss.  I would say that Wesco and Whites are about the same, Viberg are next level…..
