^ A trip to Japan would be my complete bankrupt  .. apart from the horrific prices for the flights, hotels, etc. (Japan is very expensive) - the range of 'must have purchases' would kill me!

Japan is actually not very expensive.  It can be if you want it to be, but it does not have to be.  I am continually amazed at what great value , travel, food and accommodation is…..

Housing, utilities etc. are expensive but as a tourist you don't need to worry about that

In most places I visit in Japan I can do a fantastic dinner with beer for $30 per head, I can't do that for shit food in Gosport…If I want a really good meal with one beer, I can do that for about $15...

This is my fifth year, eighth trip!

There have only ever been two occasions where I thought, 'fuck', when seeing the bill… Both occasions involved a lot of food and even more alcohol.

Flights (IMO) are not expensive either.

I could fly in May from London Heathrow to Tokyo (with one stop)  for under GBP500 on loads of different carriers
