In most places I visit in Japan I can do a fantastic dinner with beer for $30 per head, I can't do that for shit food in Gosport…If I want a really good meal with one beer, I can do that for about $15...

This is my fifth year, eighth trip!

There have only ever been two occasions where I thought, 'fuck', when seeing the bill… Both occasions involved a lot of food and even more alcohol.

Flights (IMO) are not expensive either.

I could fly in May from London Heathrow to Tokyo (with one stop)  for under GBP500 on loads of different carriers

Qantas direct (from Sydney) on average costs me 900AUD…

The last time (I guess 10-15 years ago), I've studied flight- and hotel prices for an adequate Japan trip .. at that time, it was nearly 'unaffordable'.
