That's about it~ Didn't leave with anything (aside for some rawhide laces). I can safely say a pair of White's are in my near-future… 😃

Quick question: someone over at SF said that White's distressed cowhide was among their hardest/most durable leathers (seems weird, since I'm skeptical of everything pre-distressed?). I'm planning to get a pair of americana/retro semi dress boots with a cap toe, and I want something that a) will last me 10-15 years and b) will look decent/get a nice shine/patina over time with a little care and lots of use.

So, within the larger framework of "brown" leathers that white's supply, which combines good looks and durability best? And i definately pirority durability the highest.

The simple answer is their brown dress leather, tough, durable, and evolves great. My SD's are coming up to 4 years old, have seen plenty of wear, and still look great.

Anyone know if White's sells replacement laces or if you've found anything similar. Mine have started to fray from the speedhooks.

I can post some up on Sunday, but I am away until then. Google should turn out some pretty nice pics though.

Nice boot. Not a big fan of how the midsole tapers to such a thin point, though.

Not sure I understand what you mean by mid sole shaping into a point.  you mean the shape of the toebox?  Its anything but pointy

The leather that runs from the back heel to the toe end of the boot, is what I was referring to. Sorry for being confusing.

                                I just prefer a thicker midsole, I guess…

                                Edit: Something like this

I gotcha.  Whites has an option to double the mid sole i believe.  I did a half composite, might go for a full sole when it comes time to resole them.

I guess regular smooth dress brown is the way to go 🙂

Hmm, after looking at the different leather patches at white's webpage, the dress brown is very close to black, not a traditional "brown" really, I'm leaning a bit towards the distressed brown, which is lighter, but is this leather treated with anything that makes it less durable? anyone tried that leather?
